    Class of 1984 – 30th Reunion “30th Reunion Weekend Extravaganza” The Class of 1984 “30th Reunion Weekend Extravaganza” began with a Kick-Off “Meet and Greet” at the Annual Homecoming Football Game on October 10, 2014. The Lecture Hall became a room full of Griffins with many staff members stopping by to visit and reminisce. Saturday night was filled with dinner and dancing at The Crystal Point in Point Pleasant, with music by their very own Bobby Fontinelli and the band Sneekbox. The water- view room was glowing with blue and white lights and memorabilia from their old Alma Mater …everything from old uniforms, newspaper articles, and photos. Class members experienced fun and smiles in the photo booth. They strolled down memory lane as they watched a video montage of their four years, up on the big screen! Their final celebration was held at Jenkinson’s Pavilion with brunch and a trip down the boardwalk on Sunday. The reunion was spear headed by Ann Michele Thompson Sayers, Mercedes Nola, Michael Fogarty, Andrea Crowley-Papageorgiou, Tom Lebel, Mark Malland, Terri O’Neil, Sean Asay, Lisa Carny - Kay and Tony Fevola. The Class of 1984 raised $2,186 which they generously donated to purchase 2 lamp posts for the high school in honor of the friends that left this earth too soon: Tommy Gilroy, Pete Fanuele, Charlie Bitter, Gary Washburn, and Dawn Sutter. The Class of 1984 has created a Scholarship Fund to continue the legacy the way their high school taught them!!! A 50th Birthday Bash for the entire class is in the works for their next Get- Together…details to follow!!! Previous research by academics on the effect of the Internet on popular music has centered on the impact of Napster and peer-to-peer networks on the distribution of recordings (Alexander, 2002; Ayres & Williams, 2004; Bishop, 2004; Daniel & Klimis, 1999; Fox, 2004; Mardesich, 1999; & Oberholzer & Strumpf, 2004). However, unexamined is the influence of the Internet on a specific music subculture, punk. This is important because the subculture is occupied mainly by youth engaged with both the Internet and punk music. The Internet's influence on the punk subculture is a particularly important area of study because the Internet alters how participants in the subculture (punk fans, bands and independent labels) communicate with one another, as well as changes the distribution of punk artifacts and information. ii Central to this study is the history of the major labels' dominance over the distribution and promotion of punk music, a domination examined via critical political economy theory.

It is National Happiness Happens Month and International Peace Month. Have you realized there is national month, week, or day for pretty much anything? August we have days ranging from National Respect for Parents Day to National Underwear Day to National Wiggle Your Toes Day. Not Joking on those; Look it Up. Getting back to National Happiness Happens Month. What Makes you Happy? We have a whole month honoring this and how happiness is limitless and contagious. By sharing your joy brings joy to those around you. Have you every walked into a room and you can just feel the tension and automatically freeze up knowing something is wrong? Then think about walking into your yoga studio or your happy place- your inner light just clicks on! So how is it that August became National Happiness Happens Month? The Secret Society of Happy People was founded in 1998 to provide a voice for people who are happy and want to express it without others raining on their parade. August 8, 1999 was founded as Admit Your Happy Day but the members of this society wanted it to linger on longer and then renamed the entire month. I want to be part of this secret society or can we copy it and make our own calling it the OmGoddess Clubhouse of Happy People? Happiness is a choice and this month we should start by doing something for yourself- happiness starts from within! Then Recognize each day what makes you happy? It is Summer at the Jersey Shore during a pandemic, but I am sure we have so much happiness around us.
