District Facilities District Context and Characteristics //

The North Orange County Community College District spans a large breadth of geography, and sweeps across an area of rich diversity in population, business activity, and civic life.

Bounded on the east by Anaheim Hills and the 91 Freeway corridor, its northern boundary runs along the foothills above Yorba Linda, Tonner Pass, and the avocado-rich hills above La Habra Heights. To the west (from north to south) are the 1 communities of Buena Park, La Palma, Cypress, Los Alamitos, and Seal Beach. Continuing counterclockwise, the southern boundary includes Huntington Beach, Garden Grove and Orange.

Neatly bisecting the district territory in both directions are major freeways: SR-57 running north/south and SR-91 running east/ west. Interstate 5 also runs diagonally through the district. The SR-22 runs east/west along the southern portion of the district and the district also has portions of the SR-55 within its boundaries. 2 The district area is home to a widely diverse range of businesses, from the Disney Resort to aerospace research and manufacturing facilities.

The weather is mild and pleasant most days of the year. There are many recreational resources right in the community area. There are major parks in most of the constituent communities. Even though most of the district would be considered suburban, there are convenient opportunities to immerse yourself in nature. The beach is 30–45 minutes away from most district locations. Many people enjoy birdwatching in the 3 Bolsa Chica wetlands in Huntington Beach. Joggers, cyclists, and hikers enjoy the paths along the Santa Ana river. From numerous entry points in the district, you can go north or south for many miles of exploration and enjoyment. There are Orange County Monument Sign equestrian paths in the foothills of Fullerton. And, if you like the 1 2 Huntington Beach excitement of G-forces, Disneyland, Adventure, and 3 Bolsa Chica Wetlands Knotts Berry Farm theme parks are within the district.
