We currently have an exciting opportunity for a talented Transportation Operations Manager with an entrepreneurial spirit who is anxious to fast track their career in a highly visible role with a growth oriented third party logistics company (3PL).

Position Summary: Plans, directs, and leads the transportation division of States Logistics Services Inc. Primarily working out of our corporate office located in Buena Park, California, this position manages our brokerage, private fleet, and company drivers at all locations in Southern California and Phoenix. This position will lead approximately 70 drivers, 5 dispatchers, 10 transportation specialists, 5 direct reports, and would require close coordination and with the warehouse division. Travel to our Phoenix locations will be required (up to 15% of position).

Position Responsibilities:

• Build high performing teams by developing and communicating goals, team objectives, and priorities while controlling costs • Establish a structure to ensure the division can grow exponentially • Serve as a role model in innovative thinking by challenging current methods and taking responsible risks to maximize results • Offer direction and expertise to develop and implement LEAN standard operating procedures • Ensure driver and equipment productivity and route profitability • Meet customer expectations, including achieving all service level metrics and quality performance goals • Promote a positive safety culture and to manage operations’ safety policies and procedures • Coordinate and monitor training and development programs to ensure employee effectiveness, skill enhancement, and succession planning • Development and implementation of continual improvement processes and activities across all areas and aspects of the operation • Manages, directly or through location managers, the internal fleet operations staff including: drivers, dispatchers, administrative personal and managers. This would entail: staffing, , development, training, work assignments, and follow-up in accordance with HR policies, practices, and procedures and company standards. • P&L/Budget management for the transportation division • DOT Compliance

Requirements

• BA degree and 5 years of proven transportation management/ experience working in transportation services, 3PL, common carrier freight operations or company-owned fleet operations • Excellent leadership skills with a proven ability to manage conflict and effectively collaborate • Experience in a high volume, fast paced distribution environment involving daily local deliveries, port container pickups, line-haul, and yard management • Strong written and verbal communication skills with all levels of internal employees, clients and business partners. • Extensive knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance to ensure regulation standards are met • Proficient in transportation management systems, other related logistics software and equipment, and MS Office • Dynamic personality with a “hands- on" management style • Proven organizational, multi-tasking, and meet deadline skills. • Ability to make sound business decisions in ambiguous circumstances and manage with a degree of autonomy • Lead efforts, model effective change management principles • Results driven mentality • Strong coaching and employee development skills and experience • Some travel is required
