  • GUNSMOKE TV CAST and DETAILS Premiered
GUNSMOKE TV CAST AND DETAILS Premiered: September 10, 1955, on CBS Rating: TV-PG Premise: This landmark adult Western centered on Marshal Matt Dillon of Dodge City. John Wayne turned down the lead, suggesting James Arness (who remained for its entire run). Originating on radio (with William Conrad as Dillon), it moved to TV in September 1955. Its popularity spawned a number of copycats, but none would enjoy the longevity (and few the consistent quality) of this classic. Airing for 20 years, it's TV's longest running prime-time drama (a record that `Law & Order' is currently chasing). Mike Spadoni wrote over 100 reviews and articles for Television Heaven and Teletronic over a period of many years. This issue of TVH pays tribute to his work by publishing fifty articles on classic (and some not-so- classic) American TV shows and personalities. ichael Spadoni made his living as a radio news producer and writer in Las M Vegas, Nevada. As a child he said he was the first on his block to have his own TV set in his bedroom (an old Packard Bell console), and his family was the first on the block to have a colour set ("a 1965 Sears Silvertone 23 inch console with contemporary styling--mom's preference"). From an early age, Mike, like many of his generation fell in love with 'the box.' Later, Mike entered the full high definition age with a 26 inch Sony Wega LCD set, an HD hard drive recorder, and a recorder for DVD and videotape--plus Dolby surround sound. "But there were times I missed my 1983 Mitsubishi 19 inch set that never failed me in the 20 years I owned it." And like any other television fan, his cabinets were filled with tapes and DVD's of old television series and classic commercials. ("Not to mention a few newer favourites." - he would say). Mike first started writing about US TV shows on Television Heaven's forum and his musings were so insightful and entertaining that I approached him and asked if he'd like to write a regular column for the main website. As a result 'Mike Spadoni's View from America' became a regular feature on Television Heaven for a number of years.

Daily Courier We e k’sWor th THE TV MAGAZINE OCTOBER 2-8, 2021 Back on the track CSI: Vegas begins Wednesday with familiar faces ‘CSI’ returns to Vegas for sequel series in sin city Jorja Fox, William Petersen return to star in the reboot By Rachel Jones TV Media In an industry currently teaming with franchise reboots and sequels, one fan favorite has seemed to be missing. Though do not fret, the gruesome 2000s procedural “CSI” is back, and it’s picking up right where the original “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” left off when it wrapped up in September 2015. That’s right, we’re headed back to Vegas, baby, and the crime lab is still open. “CSI: Vegas” premieres Wednesday on CBS and to stream on Paramount+. At this point in the reboot process, audi- ences generally want to know what has changed. In this case, fortunately, not much. It’s not too often that minimal change to an old TV series equates to a feeling of relief, but given “CSI’s” resound- ing success and massive popularity, it’s clear the show’s formula works, proving sometimes you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Even so, “Vegas” does promise some new energy, thanks to a handful of new- comers joining veteran cast members. New to the “CSI” family are Paula New- some (“Chicago Med”), Mandeep Dhillon (“Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of the Skywalker,” 2019), Matt Lauria (“Little Birds”) and Jay Lee (“Looking for Alas- ka”). Newsome plays Maxine Roby, the head Courtesy CBS of the crime lab.
