Do You Think You're What They Say You Are? Reflections on Jesus Christ Superstar Abstract Jesus Christ Superstar (dir. Norman Jewison, 1973) is a hybrid which, though influenced yb Jesus films, also transcends them. Its rock opera format and its focus on Holy Week make it congenial to the adaptation of the Gospels and its characterization of a plausible, non-stereotypical Jesus capable of change sets it apart from the traditional films and aligns it with The Last Temptation of Christ and Jesus of Montreal. It uses its depiction of Jesus as a means not of reverence but of interrogation, asking him questions by placing him in a context full of overtones of the culture of the early 1970s, English-speaking West, attempting to understand him by converting him into a pop-idol, with adoring groupies among whom Jesus struggles, out of context, in an alien culture that ultimately crushes him, crucifies him and leaves him behind.

Beginning in 2021, CBS Sports Network will be the exclusive domestic television home of the WSOP, featuring 15 hours of Main Event coverage and 36 hours of 18 additional Gold Bracelet events, easily marking a new high for the historic poker festival. Il Musical lo spettacolo in programma martedì 30 e mercoledì 31 ottobre alle 20.45, una doppia data per uno show che si annuncia con un tutto esaurito (eventuali posti disponibili in caso di rinuncia dei possessori). Dopo il trionfale tour europeo, torna infatti sui palcoscenici dei più importanti teatri italiani “Jesus Christ Superstar”, il Musical superpremiato di Massimo Romeo Piparo, nella versione originale di Andrew Lloyd Webber e Tim Rice; dopo la tappa di due giorni al Comunale di Vicenza lo spettacolo sarà a Varese, Catania, Milano, Roma e Genova. Protagonista dell’opera rock più amata di tutti i tempi sarà l’attore americano Ted Neeley, storico interprete del celebre successo cinematografico del 1973 firmato da Norman Jewison. Lo spettacolo, un grande allestimento PeepArrow Entertainment vincitore del prestigioso premio internazionale MusicalWorld Award nel 2016, è interpretato in lingua originale, con una grande orchestra dal vivo diretta dal maestro Emanuele Friello. Accanto al mitico Ted Neeley, ci sarà un ensemble di 24 tra acrobati, trampolieri, mangiafuoco e ballerini coreografati da Roberto Croce, le scenografie di Giancarlo Muselli elaborate da Teresa Caruso e i costumi di Cecilia Betona. Ed è proprio la presenza dell’attore che ha fatto diventare un evergreen il film degli anni ’70, oggi 75enne, a creare la continuità con l’opera rock diventata un mito e, come ricorda il regista “quel Mito non va assolutamente dissacrato, re-interpretato, elaborato: va rispettato, omaggiato, celebrato”.
