N. C. STAT FOOTBALL REIGNING PEACH BOWL CHAMPIONS N. c. STAT FOOTBALL REIGNING PEACH BOWL CHAMPIONS 1973 OUTLOOK The Wolfpack, which finished No. 17 national- ly in the AP’s final 1972 poll, will again flash the explosive twin-veer offense which last season cap- tured the fancy of the fans as well as the Atlantic Coast Conference scoring (360 points) and total of- fense (4,758 yards) titles in record style. Returning from that potent unit will be nine of the 11 starters, including all-conference performers Bruce Shaw at quarterback, Willie Burden at run- ning back, Stan Fritts at fullback, Bill Yoest at guard and Rick Druschel at tackle. HOLTZ SEES IMPROVEMENT ACC Coach of the Year Lou Holtz, starting his second campaign as the Wolfpack bossman, believes the squad will be improved over last season when State astounded the experts with an 8-3-1 record and a smashing 49-13 victory over heralded West Virginia in the Peach Bowl. Holtz, however, qualifies the observation by say- ing that the improvement may not be reflected in the won-lost column because of a tougher schedule. A total of 29 lettermen will be back in the fold, assuring the Pack of solid experience. Operating behind a seasoned front line that includes all-Amer- ica candidates Yoest and Druschel, QB Shaw, ably understudied by Peach Bowl sensation Dave Buc- key and transfer John Gargano, will have an out- standing quartet of runners in Burden, Fritts, Char- ley Young and Roland Hooks. The four rushed for 2,188 yards last season — almost a mile and a quar— ter. RUNNERS BEST IN AMERICA “There’s no finer group of runners in America,” says coach Holtz. The Pack, traditionally one of the hardest hit- ting teams in the ACC, must plug some holes on defense if it hopes to warrant national recognition. Returning standouts from last season include end Brian Krueger, tackle John Goeller, linebacker Mike Daley, all-ACC cornerback Mike Stultz and safety Bobby Pilz. “If our defense materializes, we should be a fine football team,” says Holtz. 1973 ROSTER (Cont.) • The Following Players Comprise the 1975 Season APBA Pro Football Player Card Set
1975 APBA PRO FOOTBALL SET ROSTER The following players comprise the 1975 season APBA Pro Football Player Card Set. The regular starters at each position are listed first and should be used most frequently. Realistic use of the players below will generate statistical results remarkably similar to those from real life. IMPORTANT: When a Red "K" appears in the R-column as the result on any kind of running play from scrimmage or on any return, roll the dice again, refer to the K-column, and use the number there for the result. When a player has a "K" in his R-column, he can never be used for kicking or punting. If the symbol "F-K" or "F-P" appears on a players card, it means that you use the K or P column when he recovers a fumble.
