I just believed it was easier to influence people through their hearts rather than intellectually.” For Newbury, the “strategy” worked. Everybody from Ray Charles to Paul Big Bear has recorded his songs. Since 1965, over the past 5½ decades, 1,565 Newbury covers have been recorded by artists representing 51 genres of music.
