It is surrounded by Himachal Pradesh in North, Uttar Pradesh in East, Punjab in West and Rajasthan in South. Adjacent to the National Capital, Delhi, the State surrounds it from three sides. It is spread over an area of 44,212 sq. km with an area covering 1.3% of the country. Haryana contributes significant amount of wheat and rice to the Central Pool i.e. a national repository system of surplus food grain. Haryana is India’s 4th largest producer of cotton. Haryana has also made rapid strides in development of industrial sector. Major industries in Haryana are automotive, IT, agriculture and petrochemicals. Being a preferred destination for auto majors and auto-component manufacturers, the State is the largest automobile hub in the country. The Panipat Refinery (IOCL) situated at Panipat is the 2nd largest refinery in South Asia. The State Government has committed in creating a progressive business environment. Haryana’s structural transformation from an agrarian State to industrial State, with services sector recording robust growth, the State has showed progressive development towards achieving sustainable development goals. India aspires to become a US $5 trillion economy by 2025. Though Haryana is geographically a small State, the contribution of the State to the National Gross Domestic Product at constant (2011-12) prices has been estimated as 3.8% as per Quick Estimates of 2019-20. However, the spread of Covid-19 virus posed the most formidable economic challenge to world economy as well as Indian economy. The economy of Haryana is also adversely affected due to Covid-19 pandemic. Bead making, a small scale enterprise, is commonly practiced in North-Western part of Haryana where bead making from wood is the main source of livelihood for more than 70 per cent of the households in Mangali village. All the family members have been involved in various activities of bead making. However, women’s involvement was higher in making beads and string (mala) making (Gandhi et al., 2017) who spend 8-12 hours daily for bead string making at one rupee per string. Seasonal calendar and activity profiles of 50 purposively selected women from Surtiya Panchayat of Mangali village were recorded for the assessment of the working hours of the women involved in bead string making. The work-rest ratio of the average respondents in minutes was calculated to be 20:3, which was not satisfactory for the long hours sitting work. Trainings with time management, bead products like jewelry making, curtains, bead vases, and other bead craft techniques was given to the women for eight months at intermittent intervals. The similar work is recommended to be introduced on large scale and a proper channel can be devised to sell the products and benefit the enterprise.

Petrie3 1-Department of Archaeology,Deccan College (Deemed University), Pune 411006,[email protected] 2-Department of A.I.H.C. and Archaeology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi 221005, [email protected] 3-Department of Archaeology, University of Cambridge, Downing Street, Cambridge CB2 3DZ, UK, [email protected] Introduction The site of Masudpur I (Sampolia Khera) (29° 14.636’ N; 75° 59.611’) (Fig. 1), located at a distance of about 12 km from the large urban site of Rakhigarhi, was excavated under the Land, Water and Settlement project of the Dept. of Archaeology of Banaras Hindu University and University of Cambridge in 2009. The site revealed presence of Early, Mature and Late Harappan cultural material1. Faunal material collected during the excavation was examined and this is final report of the material from Masudpur I (Sampolia Khera). Fig. 1: Location of Sampolia Khera (Masudpur I) 25 | P a g e Visit us: www.ijarch.org Faunal Remains from Sampolia Khera (Masudpur I), Haryana Material and Methods Identification work was done at Banaras Hindu University in 2010. Only a few fragments were taken to the Archaeozoology Laboratory at Deccan College for confirmation. After the analysis was over select bones were photographed and all the studied material was restored back to the respective cloth storage bags. Since during excavation archaeological material was stored with a context number, these context numbers were used as faunal analytical units. Thus, in the tables the original data are presented under various cultural units, labelled as phases by the excavators (Table 1).

    DISTRICT SURVEY REPORT FOR SUSTAINABLE SAND MINING DISTT. YAMUNA NAGAR The Boulder, Gravel and Sand are one of the most important construction materials. These minerals are found deposited in river bed as well as adjoining areas. These aggregates of raw materials are used in the highest volume on earth after water. Therefore, it is the need of hour that mining of these aggregates should be carried out in a scientific and environment friendly manner. In an endeavour to achieve the same, District Survey Report, apropos “the Sustainable Sand Mining Guidelines” is being prepared to identify the areas of aggradations or deposition where mining can be allowed; and identification of areas of erosion and proximity to infrastructural structural and installations where mining should be prohibited and calculation of annual rate of replenishment and allowing time for replenishment after mining in that area. 1. Introduction:- Minor Mineral Deposits: 1.1 Yamunanagar district of Haryana is located in north-eastern part of Haryana State and lies between 29° 55' to 30° 31 North latitudes and 77° 00' to 77° 35' East longitudes. The total area is 1756 square kilometers, in which there are 655 villages, 10 towns, 4 tehsils and 2 sub-tehsils. Large part of the district of Yamunanagar is situated in the Shiwalik foothills. The area of Yamuna Nagar district is bounded by the state of Himachal Pradesh in the north, by the state of Uttar Pradesh in the east, in west by Ambala district and south by Karnal and Kurukshetra Districts. 1.2 The district has a sub-tropical continental monsoon climate where we find seasonal rhythm, hot summer, cool winter, unreliable rainfall and immense variation in temperature.

Continued healthy admissions in the large-ticket, long-duration medical courses and consistently expanding student base in the schools have more than offset the declining enrolments in the engineering courses, amidst an unfavourable demand-supply scenario. As a result, the consolidated student strength under the trust remained healthy and improved to ~13,700 students in Academic Year (AY) 2019 from 13,044 in AY2018 and a decade-low level of 11,250 in AY2016. A higher student strength, together with periodic tuition fee revisions and healthy growth in income from allied activities (hospitals, hostels and others), has supported growth in the trust's revenue-receipts as well as improvement in its surplus margins. The improvement in the trust's operating surplus was also driven by the continued improvement in operations of the Solan (Himachal Pradesh) campus, after it achieved an operating surplus break-even in FY2016. The resultant robust cash accruals continue to aid strong liquidity, facilitating build-up of sizeable cash and liquid balances, despite regular capital expenditure undertaken by the trust towards infrastructure development.

Singh, Scientist- ‘D’ North Western Region Chandigarh September 2016 2 FOREWORD Central Ground Water Board has been monitoring ground water levels and ground water quality of the country since 1968 to depict the spatial and temporal variation of ground water regime. The changes in water levels and quality are result of the development pattern of the ground water resources for irrigation and drinking water needs. Analyses of water level fluctuations are aimed at observing seasonal, annual and decadal variations. Therefore, the accurate monitoring of the ground water levels and its quality both in time and space are the main pre-requisites for assessment, scientific development and planning of this vital resource. Central Ground Water Board, North Western Region, Chandigarh has established Ground Water Observation Wells (GWOW) in Haryana State for monitoring the water levels. As on 31.03.2015, there were 964 Ground Water Observation Wells which included 481 dug wells and 488 piezometers for monitoring phreatic and deeper aquifers. In order to strengthen the ground water monitoring mechanism for better insight into ground water development scenario, additional ground water observation wells were established and integrated with ground water monitoring database.
