INTRODUCTION This is the third report of the current fish survey of Okla- homa. It treats the collections obtained during the summer of 1927, when the field party from the Museum of Zoology of the Uni- versity of Oklahoma, again led by A. I. Ortenburger, visited southeastern Oklahoma, western Arkansas, and northeastern Okla- homa. The streams which were seined lie in the Red River, Ouachita and Arkansas drainage systems. One new species, Notropis greenei, was obtained in both Okla- homa and Arkansas; we have it also from Missouri. This species was listed several times from Missouri and Arkansas by Meek, who first confused it with N. boops and later referred it to N. xmnocc- phazus. Although only this one undescribed species was obtained in the 1927 survey, a number of other discoveries, of interest from zoo- geographical and systematic standpoints, were made. Twenty-one of the species obtained in Oklahoma have not previously been at- tributed to that state: a considerable addition to the list of slightly more than one hundred already recorded. These new records tes- tify to the extreme richness of the fish fauna of eastern Oklahoma. The abundance of species there is further indicated by the fact that most of the species, ahout twenty-five in number, reported from Oklahoma by earlier collectors but not yet obtained during the course of the present survey, were also obtained in that part of the State. -

Lea, 1852) I. GENERAL INFORMATION A. Methodology used to complete review Public notice of the initiation of this 5-year review was given in the Federal Register on September 8, 2006 (71 FR 53127-53129) and a 60 day comment period was opened. During the comment period, we did not receive any additional information about Arkansas fatmucket (Lampsilis powelllii) other than specific information from biologists familiar with the species. This review was completed by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Arkansas Field Office. Arkansas fatmucket only occurs in the state of Arkansas. Literature and documents on file at the Arkansas Field Office were used for this review. All recommendations resulting from this review are a result of thoroughly reviewing the best available information on the Arkansas fatmucket and the reviewer’s expertise as one of the leading authorities on this species. Comments and suggestions regarding the review were received from Arkansas Field Office supervisors and peer reviews from outside the Service (see Appendix A). Coal Investigation in the Saline-Gallatin Field, Illinois, and the Adjoining Area.
COAL INVESTIGATION IN THE SALINE-GALLATIN FIELD, ILLINOIS, AND THE ADJOINING AREA. By FRANK W. DEWOLF. INTRODUCTION. The area here described is near the southwest edge of the Eastern Interior coal field, lying mostly in Illinois, but extending also into Indiana and Kentucky. Its boundaries are slightly beyond those of the Eldorado and New Haven quadrangles, and it measures 30^ miles from east to west and 18^ miles from north to south, thus including approximately 550 square miles. Parts of four counties in Illinois Saline, Gallatin, White, and Hamilton are comprised within the area. Coal production in this region is increasing so rapidly that geologic work carried on here assumes an important economic aspect. The rapid development of this part of the coal basin is due to the excellent quality of the fuel, its extensive distribution, and favorable mining conditions. The production to date has been entirely in the Illinois portion of the area and until the last year only in Gallatin and Saline counties. White County also is now producing. In 1906 the area included in this report produced 314,927 tons, a gain of 115 per cent over 1905.a Coal mining in the Eldorado quadrangle is facilitated by the presence of several railroads; the New Haven quadrangle has none. The whole area, however, has so little relief that it can be easily reached by railroads where desired. This preliminary statement of geologic field work performed during three autumn months of 1906 is the first published report for this area since 1875,& though adjoining areas in Indiana 0 and Kentucky d have received later attention.
