Any location, indoors or out, is considered to be a “damp” location—as long as the fixture is not in direct contact with water. Outdoors under an eave, for instance, would be “damp.” Wet locations are unsheltered outdoor areas that are exposed to direct contact with rain and require fixtures to be ordered with an “outdoor/wet location” option.

Recycled fused glass takes lighting to the next level by creating a stunning array of textures, colors, and patterns that have an organic, natural feel — including bubbles, speckles, and crackles. It’s something you won’t find anywhere else but from A19.

But beautiful doesn’t mean these fused-glass pieces aren’t as sturdy and functional as our other fixtures. Each piece in the reFusion Collection is hand-made to A19’s exacting standards. Their ceramic bases ensure that use in a damp location, such as a bathroom, won’t harm the fixture. Additionally, we also offer incandescent and Energy Star rated LED options to meet any needs, and many of our sconces also meet American with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements by having a depth of four inches or less.

Like precious gemstones, A19’s Jewel collection sparkles with color and life. Some subtle, some bold, each fused glass design is as distinctive as the individuals who enjoy them.

Created using a unique fused glass process We incorporate a special fused glass process in the kiln to bond the art glass together. The fused glass is then carefully mounted on a ceramic frame, which is hand slip cast, fired in A19’s kilns and finished in satin white to set off the dynamic colors. Each light fixture is truly a work of art.

Art that’s made to last The value of A19’s Jewel Collection extends far beyond their beauty. These wall sconces were designed to showcase the unique art glass as well as provide ambient up and down light effects. Energy Star LED options, as well as more shallow ADA-compliant sconces are available for commercial applications.

There will be subtle variations and each piece is a one-of-a-kind piece of functional art. We’re proud to say that the Jewel Collection, like all A19 lighting, is handmade in sunny California.

Whether you’re looking to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for a restaurant or want refresh your home, we have a fixture just for you.

Handmade with pride In an age when most products are mass produced and imported, we’re proud to say all of A19’s fixtures are handmade in sunny California by our own talented artisans. Each piece is designed, molded, fired, sanded, finished, assembled and shipped directly from our studio. Our light fixtures are made-to-order in record speed and are never “out of stock”.

Standards compliant We know building codes and regulations just as much as we know how to create beautiful fixtures. That is why every wall sconce, pendant and corner sconce is made to A19’s exacting standards. We offer incandescent options for both damp and wet locations, as well as Energy Star LED options. Additionally, we have ADA-compliant sconces, Dark-Sky measures for light pollution reduction and enchanting down-light effects. All of our pendants include a canopy and seven feet of cord, which can be cut to the appropriate length.

Reducing negative effects of artificial light Research suggests that light can negatively affect humans and other living organisms. Ceramic is opaque which conceals direct view of the bulb and omits irritating glare. A19’s downlights are fully shielded and direct all light downward to minimize sky glow and other forms of light pollution. To reduce the amount of blue light, use warm color temperature bulbs (less than 3000K). For outdoor applications and beachfront property, amber toned or red turtle friendly bulbs are recommended. Finish Our clay produces a matte off-white bisque finish when fired. Bare bisque can be cleaned with fine grit sandpaper. You can use our natural bisque fixtures for a clean and simple look, you can paint the bare bisque yourself, or we can apply your choice of finish for you.
