If this is your first year at FBCS, lt me break Homecoming down for you: Each year, every class votes for four people from each grade for Homecoming court. Also, each class chooses a theme for the parade. You will get to decorate your float and dress in the theme your class chooses. Its also the start of the second nine weeks! Do not fall behind! There are a plethora of study tips on Youtube that you can watch to assist in studying. Make this nine weeks your best. WEEKLY WORD SPOTLIGHT TEACHER Ryen Pullen Milon Ross Proverbs 17:17 "A true friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time Dr. Cooper was chosen as our spotlight teacher of of adversity." Local News Aliza Hyde In the past month Slidell citizens have witnessed multiple violent crimes, that have increased in various hotspots. On September 8, 2020, Daniel Craddock, 27, and Cody Matthews, 32, were arrested and charged on attempted murder and kidnapping after causing extreme bodily injuries to a man. Craddock and Matthews beat the man in an apartment in the 1800 block of fifth Street. The information was found on the WDSU 6 News website. On September 18, 2020, a woman was arrested for son shooting himself in the leg. The son of Kimberly Taylor shot himself in the leg in the Rocket Ranch Trailer Park. This information was provided by the Fox 8 website. On September 21, 2020, a 14- year-old boy has been arrested for fatally shooting his father’s fiancée, after a heated argument. The boy shot the woman at the 2200 block of Pelican Street. The information was located on NOLA.com. The citizens of Slidell need to be aware of what’s happened in their area. A crime hotspot can be anywhere. Economics Callie Havard AHave you ever wondered why businesses are asking for exact change at the check out counter? This is due to the lack of coins circulating in the economy. With the amount of businesses closed and people staying home, we are left with not enough coins to go around. This problem could be resolved when more businesses begin open, but it is unknown when that will be possible Another issue in our economy, with COVID-19 at fault, is the unemployment rate. Thousands of people became jobless when the government issued the lockdown. Only a few people have been granted the ability to return to work and make a salary. Many hospitality and travel industries like airlines and hotels have laid off hundreds of people leaving them with no source of income.Those who remain unemployed ,due to the mandatory shutdown, are struggling to pay their mortgage and for other necessities. Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, and other representatives will hopefully soon come to terms on the matters of the stimulus check and package so many American people can receive their much needed money. They seem to be nearing an agreement, but a final decision is yet to be made. Fashion companies have now began selling loungewear sets to encourage buyers to sport their new outfits in public. Who said you only had to be comfortable at home? In demand sites for loungewear are Fashion Nova and Shein. Both businesses are very affordable and have cute, trendy loungewear. Old Navy and Target’s loungewear come highly recommend.
