FAILURE TO STOP - ADVICE FOR DRIVERS Over the course of this winter, police in the local area have spent their time dealing with fail to stop accidents in the Gourock area. These have resulted in drivers being subsequently traced and charged with failing to stop and exchange details at the scenes of accidents. Some of the reasons the police are hearing during their enquiries is that the driver of the offending vehicle was unaware that they had to stop and provide details and they believed the damage to be minor. Drivers who have just passed their test, should make themselves aware of their responsibilities to other road users. Those more mature drivers, who have not sat a test recently should keep themselves up to date with the rules of the road. For avoidance of doubt, should you hit an unattended vehicle you should make attempts to trace the owner. If you have an accident where names and addresses have not been exchanged you should report this to police within 24hrs. If in doubt contact police on 101 and ask. Crime Last month there were a total of 21 crimes, which is 3% of the total crime across Inverclyde and is average for crime across the past year. 5 Yr Past Monthly Past Recorded Crime Month Average Year GROUP 1 - Crimes of Violence 0 0 4 GROUP 2 - Crimes of Indecency 0 0 12 GROUP 3 - Crimes of Dishonesty 4 4 85 GROUP 4 - Crimes of Fire Raising, Malicious Mischief
