An extract from the book ‘Some Girls Do’ by Jacinta Tynan:

‘To...’ by Grace Whiting

I want to… • sleep until I’m no longer tired • trust someone with my deepest secrets • learn the meaning of a new word every day • peel back the layers of my subconscious to discover who I truly am • make my father proud • speak another language • work in a job that doesn’t destroy my soul • fall in love with someone who knows me better than I know myself • live where no one knows me and reinvent myself without the limitations of friends or familiarity • hold beliefs so passionate I’ll put my life on the line to define them • watch sunsets over foreign shores and collect stamps in my passport • write words that resonate within the souls of strangers • fly • grow old gracefully • die in the knowledge that someone else’s life has been touched by my existence • be remembered

Grace Whiting, a Little Sister in the 2006 SISTER2sister Program, has just completed Year 12 and plans to study Media and Communications at university in 2007. Grace is passionate about writing and has an insatiable appetite for the written word. This, combined with a deep desire to keep learning and a sense that there are many stories to be told, is what drives Grace towards her goal of becoming a journalist. In the meantime, she will try to accomplish as many things from that list of aspirations as she can – no doubt, she will find herself adding new tasks.

On The Wings of A Butterfly by Corky Ferguson

Your friendship is special Like the flowers that bloom, Or when a butterfly emerges From within its cocoon...

You remind me of that butterfly, Loving and free, Bright and colourful, For the world to see...

We will share sunshine and rainbows, Sometimes, the rain and the snow, We’ll stand together through it, While the cold winds blow...

When the time is right, We won’t stop to ask “Why?” Our friendship will take flight On the wings of a butterfly... LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCES FOUNDATION EXPERIENCES CHANGING LIFE
