ANOTHER SHABU VENDOR NABBED BY PDEA, PNP OPERATIVES A Newly Identified Drug Personality was arrested during the conduct of Buy-bust Operation at Brgy. 77, Tacloban City on July 29, 2018 at around 5:30PM. The suspect was identified as Rhenier Magbagay y Obsannga, 31 y.o., male, married, jobless, resident of Banez Village, Btgy 77, Tacloban City. Purchased and confiscated during the said operation were four (4) pcs. Heat- sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be Shabu weighing MOL 0.08 gram with an estimated market value of Two Thousand Pesos (Php2,000.00). The suspect will be facing charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of RA 9165 2. SHABU PEDDLER NET IN TACLOBAN CITY Another Newly Identified Drug Personality was nabbed during the conduct of Buy-bust Operation at Brgy. 77, Tacloban City on July 29, 2018 at around 4:455 PM. The suspect was identified as Emiliano Militante y Mangilan alyas “Biboy”, 26 y.o., male, single, jobless, resident of Banez Village, Btgy 77, Tacloban City. Purchased and confiscated during the said operation were three (3) pcs. Heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be Shabu weighing MOL 0.06 gram with an estimated market value of One Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (Php1,500.00). The suspect will be facing charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of RA 9165. 3. A NEWLY IDENTIFIED DRUG PUSHER NET IN BAYBAY CITY A Newly Identified Drug Personality arrested during the conduct of Buy- bust Operation at Brgy. Zone 7, Baybay City on July 29, 2018 at around 2:35 PM. The suspect was identified the suspect as Franz Grego Rosal y Samante, 20 y.o., male, single, jobless, resident of Brgy. Buenavista, Baybay City. Purchased and confiscated during the said operation were four (4) pcs. Heat- sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be Shabu weighing MOL 0.5 gram with an estimated market value of Two Thousand Pesos (Php2,000.00). The suspect will be facing charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of RA 9165. 4. DRUG DEN DISTMANTLED; Six arrested including an SK Chairman Newly Identified Drug Personalities was jailed during the conduct of Buy-bust Operation at Brgy. Guadalupe, Baybay City on July 18, 2018 at around 10:15 PM. The suspects were identified as Jomar Jose Polo y Covero, 22 y.o.,male, single, fisherman, resident of Brgy. Himoaw, Hilongos Leyte; John Palu Navales y Padiz, 24 y.o., males, single, businessman, resident of Brgy. Santa Cruz, Hilongos Leyte; Jester James Lora y Esplanada, 22 y.o., male, single, jobless, resident of Brgy. Campina, Hilongos, Leyte; Epheren Son Flores y Onipa, 30 y.o., male, single, waiter, resident of Brgy. Santa Cruz, Baybay City; Edison Flores y Onipa, 31 y.o., male, single, singer, resident of Brgy. Santa Cruz, Baybay City; Doni Francis Pascua y Bisnar, SK Chairman, 21 y.o., male, single, resident of Poblacion Inopacan, Leyte; and John Zarate who managed to elude the arrest. Purchased and confiscated during the said operation were five (5) pcs. Heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be Shabu weighing MOL 3 grams with an estimated market value of Twenty-Four Thousand Four Hundred Pesos (Php 24,400.00) and various drug paraphernalia. Polo will be facing charges for violations of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of RA 9165, while the rest will be facing charges for violations of Section 7 (Employees/Visitors of Drug Den) and Section 12. 5. SHABU PUSHER IN LEYTE NET BY ANTI-DRUG OPERATIVES Once again, a Newly Identified Drug Personality was detained during the conduct of Buy-bust Operation at Brgy. Cunalom, Inopacan Leyte on July 14, 2018 at around 8:30 PM. The suspect was identified as Joel Dadula y Corpez alyas “Tawing”, 32 y.o.,male, married, jobless, resident of Brgy. Cunalom Inopacan Leyte. Purchased and confiscated during the said operation were six (6) pcs. Heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be Shabu weighing MOL 0.15 gram with an estimated market value of One Thousand Twenty Pesos (Php1,020.00). Dadula will be facing charges for violations of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of RA 9165. 6. ANOTHER SHABU SELLER IN TACLOBAN CITY BUSTED; mol 25 grams of shabu seized Another Newly Identified Drug Personality during the conduct of Buy- bust Operation at Brgy. 86 San Jose, Tacloban City on July 13, 2018 at around 4:30 PM. The suspect was identified as Renato Lavinia y Atencio alyas "jun", 43 y.o.,male, married, driver, resident of Brgy. 86 San Jose, Tacloban City. Purchased and confiscated during the said operation were seven (7) pcs. Heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be Shabu weighing MOL 25.0 grams with an estimated market value of One Hundred Seventy Thousand Pesos (Php170,000.00) and various drug paraphernalia. Lavinia will be facing charges for violations of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of RA 9165. 7. PDEA, PNP DETAINED TWO NEWLY IDENTIFIED DRUG PERSONALITIES IN TACLOBAN CITY Newly Identified Drug Personalities during the conduct of Buy-bust Operation at Brgy. 31, Real St. Tacloban City on July 13, 2018 at around 12:30 NN. The suspects were identified as as Joven Dale Jumao-as y Bernal, 28 y.o., male, with live-in partner, jobless, resident of V@G Subdivision, Tacloban City; and Francis Jay Ritchie Quitorio y Nicart, 27 y.o., male, with live-in partner, student, resident of Brgy. 62 Bliss, Sagkahan, Tacloban City. Purchased and confiscated during the said operation were five (5) pcs. Heat- sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be Shabu weighing MOL 10.5 grams with an estimated market value of Seventy-One Thousand Pesos (Php71,000.00) and various drug paraphernalia. Juamo-as will be facing charges for violations of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), while Ritchie will be facing violation of Section 26, para b of RA 9165. Both of them will also be charged of violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of RA 9165. 8. ANOTHER HVT NET BY PDEA, PNP JOINT STING A Newly Identified Drug Personality during the conduct of Buy-bust Operation at Brgy. 25, Real Tacloban City beside the Plaza Rizal (near Rizal Elementary School) on July 11, 2018 at around 3:45 PM. The suspect was identified as Elmer Cruto y Catindoy, Government Employee, 43 y.o., male, married, resident of Brgy. 108 Tagpuro, Tacloban City. Purchased and confiscated during the said operation were four (4) pcs. Heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be Shabu weighing MOL 0.4 gram with an estimated market value of Two Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (Php2,500.00). The suspect will be facing charges for violations of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of RA 9165. 9. PDEA, PNP BAG ANOTHER HIGH VALUE TARGET A Newly Identified Drug Personality was arrested during the conduct of Buy-bust Operation at Brgy. 68, Anibong Tacloban City on July 09, 2018 at around 8:13 PM. The suspect was identified as Bernard John Gamalo y Estabillo, Government Employee, 26 y.o., male, single, resident of Brgy. 68, Anibong, Tacloban City. Purchased and confiscated during the said operation were three (3) pcs. Heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be Shabu weighing MOL 0.22 gram with an estimated market value of One Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (Php1,500.00), and six (6) pcs. Heat sealed plastic sachet containing dried marijuana leaves with an estimated market value of One Thousand Two Hundred Pesos (Php1,200.00). The suspect will be facing charges for violations of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of RA 9165. 10. THREE PUSHERS NABBED IN TACLOBAN CITY; mol 27 grams of shabu seized Newly Identified Drug Personalities were caught during the conduct of Buy-bust Operation at Brgy. 66, Paseo de Legaspi, Tacloban City on July 10, 2018 at around 4:30 PM. The suspects were identified as Manuel Marcos y Dela Cruz alyas “Maui”, 23 y.o., male, single, jobless, and resident of Brgy. 66, Paseo de Legaspi, Tacloban City; Elmer Marcos y Dela Cruz, 20 y.o., male, jobless, resident of Brgy. 106, Sta. Elena Tacloban City and Dante Gumata y Manshia, 46 y.o., male, married, jobless, resident of Brgy. 66, Paseo de Legaspi, Tacloban City. Purchased and confiscated during the said operation were eight (8) pcs. Heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be Shabu weighing MOL 27 grams with an estimated market value of One Hundred Eighty-Three Thousand Six Hundred Pesos (Php183,600.00) and various drug paraphernalia. The suspects will be facing charges for violations of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs, and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of RA 9165.

EBM is attractive because it promises to deliver a variety of services including holistic policy and laws, as well as scaled-up and streamlined management that is centered on ecosystem function at ecologically relevant scales (Christie el al 2009, Leslie and McLeod 2007, Pikitch et al 2004). These goals are all the more attractive in light of globalized concerns such as climate change and ocean acidification. EBM is offered as an approach that can reverse the severe, widespread declines in coastal and ocean systems (Leslie and McLeod 2007). The goal of this research is to present and evaluate recent attempts to scale up to EBM in the Danajon Bank, Philippines. Thirty-five interviews were conducted with local government officials and NGO staff to determine their willingness to participate in the Danajon Bank Project and to identify the preferred governance framework for a large scale marine protected area.

    Annals of Tropical Research 412 ( ):1 1529 -1 (201 9 ) © VSU, Leyte, Philippines Landslides have become very frequent in Leyte which justifies the need for soil assessment and characterization of the landslide-prone areas in the province. This study assessed the physical characteristics of soils from the landslide areas in Cadac-an watershed in Leyte, Philippines. Landslide cuts located in the central highlands of Cadac-an watershed were used as representative profiles in this study. These were examined, characterized and sampled for the analyses of soil physical properties which include particle size distribution (Pipette method), bulk density (Paraffin-clod method), particle density (Pycnometer method), porosity, total soil wet density, water holding capacity and field capacity (Gravimetric method), saturated hydraulic conductivity (Constant head method), liquid limit and plastic index. Generally, soils from the landslide areas in Cadac-an watershed had a sandy loam to clay loam to clayey texture, low bulk density, low particle density, high porosity, moderate total soil wet density, moderate to high water holding capacity, low to moderate field capacity, moderately high to high saturated hydraulic conductivity, moderate liquid limit and low plastic index. Based on the above characteristics, the soils are susceptible to landslide occurrence thus it is highly recommended to conduct constant assessment and monitoring of the area. Hence, this study aimed to evaluate the ecological qualities of the two degraded upland soils in Inopacan, Leyte and Sta. Rita, Samar. Site properties were evaluated quantitatively in terms of rootability, availability of air, water and nutrients, as well as nutrient reserves. Results showed that both soils have shallow to moderate rooting deep, poor to moderate rootability, low to high air capacity and moderate to high available water supply to the plants. Moreover, both soils obtained higher nutrient reserves for cation exchange and the limiting factor for plant nutrition is given by the very low amount of nitrogen supply.
