Coordinates: 35°42′38″N 139°26′19″E Machida, Tokyo 町 田 市 Machida ( Machida-shi) is a city located in the Machida western portion of Tokyo Metropolis, Japan. As of 町田市 1 February 2016, the city had an estimated population of 429,040, and a population density of 5980 persons per City km². The Tama River flows through the city. In the post-Meiji Restoration cadastral reform of July 22, 187 8, the area became part of Machida Minamitama District in Kanagawa Prefecture. The village of Machida was created on April 1, 1889 with the establishment of municipalities law. Minamitama District was transferred to the administrative control of Tokyo Metropolis on April 1, 1893. Tama was elevated to town status on April 1, 1913. As always, I thank you for your support and cooperation in the activities of the Association. At this time, I would like to share some information regarding the Association, and make some requests. Now, I am also pleased to announce that the new JBCA board members were elected and approved at the general members assembly held in October last year. As a newly elected President, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the former President Hiromitsu Hayashida and the former board members for their endeavor during their tenure. I along with the new board members am determined to unite our efforts for further development of this association. Nobuo KAMATA, President The 76th National Convention The National Convention of 2016 is scheduled to take place on Saturday 8 through Sunday 9 of October 2016 at Ryukoku University Fukakusa Campus with Professor Kazuyo MURATA as the chair of the steering committee. The International Session, which has been held for the last nine consecutive years, will be hosted. Business communication researchers including those from KABC and others from overseas will be invited to give special lectures. This event should serve as a forum for exchange of views with our members. Members are invited to present their research papers, in order to make this Convention successful. Members are also urged to offer their suggestions for the preparation of Convention program. -
