La idea original es Jack Dorsey en el 2001. Dorsey proponía usar el sistema sms en una aplicación web, para compartir, con un grupo, lo que alguien estaba haciendo en ese momento. La idea fue implementada por Dorsey y Biz Stone para la empresa Podcasts Odeo Inc. de San Francisco. El primer mensaje enviado por twitter fue de Dorsey el 21 de marzo de 2006 y decía "just setting up my twttr" (sólo ajustando mi twttr). En julio de 2006 se convierte en Twitter. En 2007 Twitter se convierte en una compañía fundada por: Jack Dorsey (@jack), Biz Stone (@biz) y Evan Williams (@ev) lanzan la compañía. Jack Dorsey (en la imagen) es actual presidente del Consejo de Administración. agosto de 2013 www.sorayapaniagua.com 3 Introducción El 24 de enero de 2013, Twitter lanzó Vine, una aplicación para dispositivos móviles que permite capturar y compartir videos cortos, de seis segundos o menos, en bucle. Al igual que los tuits, la brevedad de los videos de Vine inspira la creatividad. Cualquier usuario puede fácilmente capturar el movimiento y el sonido. En marzo de 2012: Twitter anunció la adquisición de Posterous, un sistema de blogging similar a Tumblr. Disponer de un Time Line (TL) de tuits de los usuarios a los que seguimos. Enviar y recibir mensajes públicos. Enviar y recibir mensajes privados (DMs). Subir imágenes. Distribuir links. Geolocalizar. Retuitear contenidos de terceros (RT). Crear y usar # (hashtags) para crear canales temáticos. Crear listas y que sean seguidas. Ser incluidos en listas. Lista de favoritos. Ver las tendencias (Trending Topics TT) globales y por países. Podemos ver interacciones. Recomendaciones de usuarios (a quién seguir). Personalización gráfica. Por el acceso directo a las fuentes de información: policía, gobiernos, eventos, el propio ciudadano... Porque las empresas están en Twitter. Los clientes también. Porque es un gran canal de distribución y promoción de nuestro propio contenido, producto o servicio. Por el acceso a medios de comunicación de todo el mundo en todos los idiomas. Por el acceso a información directa de personas relevantes: líderes políticos, pensadores, periodistas, escritores, artistas, actores. Para participar en la herramienta que ha cambiado, sin duda, el paradigma de la comunicación. Para usar miles de fuentes directas de información y conocimiento. Para crear comunidad, potenciar una imagen personal y/o de marca. Para realizar una gestión más eficaz de la vida personal, profesional o de negocio. Para contactar con el servicio de atención de numerosas empresas. Para pedir colaboración, ayuda o para preguntar a la comunidad. Para generar networking, contactos con otros usuarios o personas relevantes. Para promoción, análisis de marketing y/o publicidad. Para aprovechar las ventajas de las cientos de aplicaciones. Hay apps para iOS, Android, Windows Mobile, Blackberry, Symbian. Hay apps para móviles y para tablets. Son aplicaciones muy sencillas de utilizar y muy útiles. En nombre completo se incluye el nombre real. Más adelante incluiremos el nick o nombre de usuario (@). A tener en cuenta: Twitter envía notificaciones de todas las interacciones al email que consignemos. En la configuración podemos personalidad esta funcionalidad. Si la idea es crear marca, un nick asociado a nuestro nombre. Móvil : notificaciones de Twitter en el móvil (sms). Con Orange, Telefónica, Vodafone y Cuenta. Es interesante tener en Yoigo. cuenta : Notificaciones : configurar .Ubicación de tuits : si está los tipos de notificaciones activada la opción, los tuits serán geolocalizados. que llegarán al email. Nos da la oportunidad de incluir una imagen más grande con la idea de resaltar nuestra identidad. En la imagen podéis ver el antes (superior) y el después (inferior). Lo cierto es que el nuevo perfil está generando cierta controversia ya que no es tan sencillo incluir una imagen acertada. agosto de 2013 www.sorayapaniagua.com 20 Twitter – Conf - Diseño Esta es la imagen de cabecera que yo he incluido en mi perfil. He utilizado el programa PicMonkey (de Google) para crear el montaje. En el enlace Themeleon encontramos más diseños, premium. Personalizar el fondo: podemos usar una imagen propia. Poner color al fondo . Cambiar el color de los enlaces. Recomendación: incluir imagen de fondo es fácil y permite personalizar una marca personal o de empresa. agosto de 2013 www.sorayapaniagua.com 22 Twitter – Conf - Diseño Hay un amplísimo catálogo de imágenes de fondo prediseñadas. Opción para incluir un fondo personalizado. También ofrece la posibilidad de hacer mosaico, es decir repetir la imagen Ubicación de la imagen de fondo. Fondo de color (sin imagen) y la posibilidad de cambiar el color de los enlaces. agosto de 2013 www.sorayapaniagua.com 23 Twitter – Conf - Aplicaciones Las dos últimas opciones de la Configuración son las de Aplicaciones y Widgets (nueva desde 2012). En Aplicaciones vemos todas las Apps que estamos utilizando con Twitter. Recomendación: revisar con frecuencia nuestra lista de Apps, puede que se haya colado alguna indeseada.. Podemos generar un widgets para incluirlo en nuestra web o blog. Pueden ser de: Cronología, El sistema genera un código en HTML Favoritos, Listas y por para copiar y pegar en el sitio web.

    October 16, 2020 Mr. Jack Dorsey CEO, Twitter Inc. 1355 Market St. #900 San Francisco, CA 94103 Dear Mr. Dorsey: We write with significant concerns regarding the unparalleled actions Twitter recently took to suppress several stories from the New York Post, one of the oldest publications in the United States, that detail troubling allegations regarding Hunter Biden, the son of current Democrat nominee for President, Joe Biden.123 This unprecedented attack, which shows a clear disregard for the spirit of the First Amendment and our country’s long history of open dialogue among citizens, is the latest in a troubling pattern of actions taken by Twitter to target conservative viewpoints on its platform. Such actions include labeling President Trump’s tweets as a threat to “public health” or “public safety” while turning a blind eye to Chinese Communist Party propaganda, unequivocal threats from the Supreme Leader of Iran, and use of your platform to put law enforcement in harm’s way.4 While it has been evident for some time that Twitter and other social media platforms have acted with clear bias against conservative viewpoints and Republican politicians, these latest actions represent an unacceptable escalation and threaten the future of our democratic discourse. During your testimony to the Energy and Commerce Committee in 2018 you stated, “Twitter does not use political ideology to make any decisions.”5 Clearly, this statement is patently false, or the official posture of your company has changed. During your time as CEO, it has become clear that Twitter has no qualms about using the power of its platform to selectively censor certain types of speech to advance a blatant political agenda.

Throughout the 2020 U.S. election, we have closely tracked the use of Twitter’s service to spread mis- and disinformation to millions of voters – potentially frustrating their ability to cast their ballots and undermining public trust in the integrity of our elections. We greatly appreciate Twitter’s partnership in both removing and flagging content that could potentially harm voters, counteracting it with reliable information from official sources, and in publicly clarifying its Civic Integrity Policy. However, in certain instances, these remedial steps do not go far enough. We are writing to request that, in response to President Donald Trump’s repeated violations of Twitter’s Civic Integrity Policy, that you suspend his account – an action that Twitter has taken in the past against other verified users who have also repeatedly violated your policies, including Katie Hopkins, David Ernest Duke, former member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, Rose McGowan, among others. We are not aware of any exceptions for current elected officials who, by virtue of their position, pose an even greater threat to the public when allowed to repeatedly violate your policies with impunity. President Trump’s repeated use of Twitter’s service to amplify false claims regarding our elections stand in deliberate violation of the platform’s Civic Integrity Policy. We urge that @realDonaldTrump be temporarily suspended from the platform.

    Podcast Orange – The Memo #17 Social media : can speech be regulated online? — Joe : As you may know, Donald Trump is very active on Twitter. He loves to fire off comments on current events. In late May, he took an interest in the Democratic primaries in Wisconsin. In the midst of the current health crisis, authorities had made mail-in voting easier. The US President disapproved of the measure, and in a tweet, claimed that absentee voting leads to massive fraud. Turns out his tweet was factually incorrect. Mail-in ballots have never been linked to an increase in fraud. This is when something unprecedented happened: Twitter fact-checked the President of the United States. Next to his tweet, there is now a warning, and users are encouraged to “get the facts about mail-in ballots". Twitter is basically saying: Donald Trump isn’t telling the truth. Another blow, a few days later, in the midst of riots sparked by the death of George Floyd, a black man killed by police officers as he was being arrested. Donald Trump tweets: “when the looting starts, the shooting starts.” Twitter flags this sentence for glorifying violence and hides the tweet from Trump’s followers. You can still find it online but it’s masked, with a message from Twitter warning that the text violates the platform’s rules. She was found dead the next morning. Her name is Lori Kaye Klausutis and she was 28 years old when she died. Her passing is the single most painful thing that I have ever had to deal with in my 52 years and continues to haunt her parents and sister. I have mourned my wife every day since her passing. I have tried to honor her memory and our marriage. As her husband, I feel that one of my marital obligations is to protect her memory as I would have protected her in life. There has been a constant barrage of falsehoods, half-truths, innuendo and conspiracy theories since the day she died. I realize that may sound like an exaggeration, unfortunately it is the verifiable truth. Because of this, I have struggled to move forward with my life. The frequency, intensity, ugliness, and promulgation of these horrifying lies ever increases on the internet. These conspiracy theorists, including most recently the President of the United States, continue to spread their bile and misinformation on your platform disparaging the memory of my wife and our marriage. President Trump on Tuesday tweeted to his nearly 80 million followers alluding to the repeatedly debunked falsehood that my wife was murdered by her boss, former U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough.
