Before the twins were born, Renae spent a decade playing netball at the highest level. As a 17-year-old Renae began her professional career with Melbourne Phoenix before spending a few years with the Adelaide Thunderbirds. It was during her time at the Thunderbirds where Renae was first awarded a spot on the Australian Diamonds squad. After giving birth to the twins, Renae made a return to the netball court and continued to represent Australia and the Melbourne Vixens up until her retirement at the end of the 2019 season.
