Abundant, responsive power is an essential part of the G6 experience. For 2006, there’s a choice of three different engines. For starters, there’s the highly refined 2.4L DOHC ECOTEC four-cylinder powerplant that’s standard on the G6 Sport Sedan. It generates 167 horsepower and delivers excellent power throughout its operating range, thanks to advanced features like variable valve timing (VVT). In the middle of the range there’s the responsive 201 horsepower 3.5L V6 that’s standard on G6 V6 and GT models. And for even more excitement, G6 GTP Sport Sedan and Sport Coupe are powered by a new 240 horsepower 3.9L V6 with VVT. 240 HP 3.9L V6 Our engineers equipped the new 240 hp 3.9L V6 engine with variable intake valve timing and a variable intake manifold. Both help to optimize the engine’s efficiency across a range of operating speeds, resulting in an impressive blend of power and economy. DRIVER MANUAL SHIFT CONTROL GT and GTP models are equipped with electronically controlled 4-speed automatic transmissions including Driver Manual Shift Control. You can change gears up or down at will with just a nudge on the shift lever.
