MNWC FACT SHEET Recommended diet for Interstitial Cystitis (IC)

Fruits Seasonings/condiments Allowed: Bananas, coconuts, dates, blueberries, melons and Allowed: Garlic pears Avoid: Mayonnaise, miso, soy sauce, vinegar, spicy Avoid: All other and juices (especially acidic and citrus (especially Chinese, Mexican, Indian and Thai) fruits) Special note: Avoid cranberry juice. Dairy Quick Synopsis: Foods to avoid for Interstitial Allowed: Milk, American cheese, cottage cheese, white Cystitis (IC) chocolate • Citrus fruits Avoid: Yogurt, sour cream, soymilk, aged cheese, chocolate • Tomatoes and tomato based sauces • Coffee, tea, carbonated and alcoholic beverages Carbohydrates • Spicy foods Allowed: Pasta (avoid tomato based sauce), rice potatoes Avoid: Rye and sourdough bread Last tip: Prelief If you just have to have something you know will cause a Meat problem use “Prelief”. Prelief is an over the counter neutralizer Allowed: Chicken, that if taken 30 minutes before eating can help to decrease the Avoid: Processed, aged, canned, cured or smoked meat occurrence of pain.
