Two new sculpture collections are being presented, the Stabiles and the Figures on plinths. Xavier Veilhan explores the conventions of classical statuary through a modernist and avant-garde aesthetic. During La Force de l’Art in 2006, the installation Le Baron de Triqueti, rendered this temporal oscillation of the artist, which also leads him to combine the most advanced technology with a traditional workmanship, palpable. For the past few years, Xavier Veilhan has been using a three dimensional sensing technique to make statues of friends or famous personalities who pose for him, produced from computer files that reproduce a «cloud of points». The series, The Architects in the gardens of Versailles in 2009, unveiled portraits ranging from realistic representation to the limits of abstraction. The Figures, phantom-like geometric forms, are set as though balanced on steel shafts. The resin plinths of these figures in solid wood, which are notably abstract reinterpretations of Architects (Jean Nouvel, Richard Rogers, Kazuyo Sejima, etc.), are also highly wrought, recalling Malevitch’s architectones. The subject and the plinth participate in the same research, much like the works of Brancusi. The Stabiles, made in metal, a tangible evolution from mobiles, borrow from the eponymous works of Calder in their shapes, but also from kinetic art in their construction.

La Galerie Perrotin à Miami organise une exposition personnelle de Xavier Veilhan du 30 novembre au 11 décembre 2010. Deux nouveaux ensembles de sculptures sont présentés, les Stabiles et les Figures sur socle. Xavier Veilhan explore les conventions de la statuaire classique à travers l’esthétique moderniste des avant-gardes. Lors de La Force de l’Art en 2006, l’installation Le Baron de Triqueti, rendait palpable cette oscillation temporelle de l’artiste qui le conduit également à combiner les technologies les plus avancées à une facture traditionnelle. Depuis quelques années, grâce à la technique de la captation en 3D, Xavier Veilhan fait poser ses proches ou des personnages célèbres qu’il élève ensuite en statues, réalisées à partir de fichiers informatiques restituant un «nuage de points». La série desArchitectes dans les jardins de Versailles en 2009, dévoilait des portraits allant de la représentation réaliste jusqu’aux limites de l’abstraction. Les Figures, formes fantomatiques et géométriques, sont fixées comme en équilibre sur des tiges en acier. Les socles en résine de ces figures en bois massif, réinterprétation abstraite notamment des Architectes (Jean Nouvel, Richard Rogers, Kazuyo Sejima...), sont également très élaborés, rappelant les architectones de Malévitch. Le sujet et le socle participent de la même recherche, à l’image des oeuvres de Brancusi. Les Stabiles en métal, évolution sensible des mobiles, empruntent aux oeuvres éponymes de Calder dans leur formes mais aussi à l’art cinétique dans leur construction.
