Introduction

Research on biology, faunistics and of small realized by the authors in the Iberian Peninsula continued also in 2015. New faunistic records and other observations were obtained again in this . The most important results are presented in this contribution, whereby the publications by VAN NIEUKERKEN et al. (2004), LASTUVKA & LASTUVKA (2009, 2011, 2012, 2014a, b, c), LASTUVKA et al. (2000, 2013), CORLEY et al. (2008, 2009, 2011, 2013), VIVES MORENO (1994, 2014), and many other works are continuously supplemented. The finding of 9 species new for the Iberian Peninsula, 14 species new for Spain, one for Portugal and 45 species new for individual provinces are given here.

Material and methods

The present records are mostly the results of the authors’ (AL & ZL) three week long visit to the Iberian Peninsula from 6th to 27th June 2015. Attention was paid only to northern regions of Spain from Gerona to Orense and to Trás-os-Montes and Minho in Portugal. Material of the mining and other small moths is deposited in the collection of the first, material of Sesiidae in the collection of the second author. In this way collectors and the collection are not repeated for the individual species. The weather was quite cold and rainy during the visit, therefore mostly larvae or mines were found, some species were beaten from their host , and only very few specimens were also collected at light (UV lamp 125 W, fluorescent tubes 8 and 20 W).

New Iberian or country records

NEPTICULIDAE

Stigmella stettinensis (Heinemann, 1871) PT: Minho, Serra do Gerês, Portela do Homem, mines with larvae on Pyrus cordata and , 15-VI-2015, 2 11, 1 0 ex from mines on Malus VII-2015. Species previously not distinguished from Stigmella minusculella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1855) with very similar bionomics and mines. Its larva develops both on wild and cultivated Pyrus species. Adults were reared from mines on Malus for the first time. The distribution of this species is still insufficiently known, occurrence is documented from some western and central European countries (LASTUVKA & LASTUVKA, 2004, BUHL et al., 2010). New species for Portugal and the Iberian Peninsula (Fig. 1, 2).

Stigmella minusculella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1855) ES: Zamora, Fermoselle, mines with larvae on , 12-VI-2015, 1 1 ex larva VI-2015. Probably a European species, widespread from western to eastern , from and the Balkan Peninsula (VAN NIEUKERKEN, 2013); in the Iberian Peninsula recorded from Portugal, Algarve (LASTUVKA & LASTUVKA, 2009). The larva mines on Pyrus species, both wild and cultivated. New species for Spain.

Stigmella tormentillella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1860) ES: , Torla-Bujaruello, 1 1, 22-VI-2015. Species very sparsely distributed from France and northern Italy across central Europe to (VAN NIEUKERKEN, 2013), it prefers higher altitudes. Larva develops on Potentilla spp. New species for Spain and the Iberian Peninsula (Fig. 3).

Parafomoria helianthemella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1860) ES: Lérida, Sant Llorenc de Morunys, 1900 m, 2 11, 8-VI-2015. Species with European distribution, known from France, Italy, central European countries and the

Species distributed in northern parts of Europe and from across western and central Europe to the east (VAN NIEUKERKEN, 2013). Larvae monophagous, with blotch mines on , empty mines have a characteristic small oval window (e.g. RAZOWSKI, 1978). New species for Spain and the Iberian Peninsula (Fig. 5).

ADELIDAE

Nematopogon metaxella (Hübner, [1813]) ES: Huesca, Torla-Bujaruello, 1 1, 22-VI-2015. Species widespread throughout Europe, with exception of the Balkan Peninsula (VAN NIEUKERKEN, 2013). In the Iberian Peninsula recorded in Portugal, Beira Litoral (PIRES & CORLEY, 2007). Larvae live in portable cases and eat both living and dead leaves of various species (RAZOWSKI, 1978). New species for Spain.

TISCHERIIDAE

Tischeria dodonaea Stainton, 1858 ES: Barcelona, Folgueroles, mines on , 24-VI-2015. Species inhabits almost all of Europe up to southern Scandinavia (KARSHOLT & VAN NIEUKERKEN, 2013), but much rarer than the related species (Bjerkander, 1795) with the same bionomics. In the Iberian Peninsula recorded in Portugal, Alto Alentejo (CORLEY et al., 2006). Larvae make upper side, brown or reddish brown blotch mines with some dark concentric rings on Quercus species or on . New species for Spain (Fig. 6).

Coptotriche gaunacella (Duponchel, 1843) ES: Huesca, Javierrelatre, mines with larvae on spinosa, 10-VI-2015, 1 1 ex larva VII- 2015; , Luesia, mines on , 10-VI-2015. Species distributed from England across central Europe up to and the Balkan Peninsula to the east and south-east and up to southern to the north (KARSHOLT & VAN NIEUKERKEN, 2013). Larva mines on Prunus spinosa, P. domestica and on some other related Prunus species. New species for Spain and the Iberian Peninsula (Fig. 7, 8).

GRACILLARIIDAE

Caloptilia fidella (Reutti, 1853) ES: Lérida, Adrall, mines on , 9-VI-2015. Transpalaearctic species, known in most European countries with exception of Scandinavia (BUSZKO, 2013, DE PRINS & DE PRINS, 2015). In the Iberian Peninsula recorded in Portugal, Trás- os-Montes by CORLEY et al. (2007, 2009). Larvae develop on and Celtis spp., initially in upper side, small, triangular silvery mines, later under a fold of the margin; empty mines were also found on Ulmus at the site, where Humulus was growing over Ulmus and Celtis, but development had probably not been completed on this plant (CORLEY et al., 2009, M. Corley, pers. comm.). New species for Spain.

SHILAP Revta. lepid., 43 (172), diciembre 2015 635 A. LASTUVKA & Z. LASTUVKA

Phyllonorycter monspessulanella (Fuchs, 1897) ES: Huesca, Espés-Alins, 1 1 beaten from Acer opalus, 22-VI-2015. Species known in France, , Switzerland, Italy and Croatia (BUSZKO, 2013, DE PRINS & DE PRINS, 2015). In the Iberian Peninsula given from Portugal, Trás-os-Montes by CORLEY et al. (2007), but this record based on mine only could relate to Phyllonorycter ochreojunctella (Klimesch, 1942) (cf. LASTUVKA & LASTUVKA, 2014b). Larvae mine leaves of Acer monspessulanum and A. opalus. New species for Spain and the first reliable record from the Iberian Peninsula (Fig. 9).

In the Iberian Peninsula recorded from Portugal, Beira Baixa by MENDES (1905), but his record was based on misidentified material of P. cerasicolella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1855) (CORLEY, 2015); newly documented from Algarve (M. Corley, pers. comm.). This species was occasionally confused or considered conspecific with Phyllonorycter cerasicolella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1855).
