FC BARCELONA Futbol Club Barcelona also known as FC Barcelona and familiarly as Barça, is a professional football club, based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Founded in 1899 by a group of Swiss, English and Catalan footballers led by Joan Gamper, the club has become a symbol of Catalan culture and Catalanism, hence the motto "Més que un club" (More than a club). It is the world's second-richest football club in terms of revenue, with an annual turnover of €398 million (2011). The unique feature of the club is that unlike many other football clubs, the supporters own and operate Barcelona. Jack Greenwell was the first fulltime club manager from 1917 to 1924 under which club grabbed 6 tournament honors. -

Basque Soccer Madness a Dissertation Submitted in Partial
University of Nevada, Reno Sport, Nation, Gender: Basque Soccer Madness A dissertation submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Basque Studies (Anthropology) by Mariann Vaczi Dr. Joseba Zulaika/Dissertation Advisor May, 2013 Copyright by Mariann Vaczi All Rights Reserved THE GRADUATE SCHOOL We recommend that the dissertation prepared under our supervision by Mariann Vaczi entitled Sport, Nation, Gender: Basque Soccer Madness be accepted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY Joseba Zulaika, Advisor Sandra Ott, Committee Member Pello Salaburu, Committee Member Robert Winzeler, Committee Member Eleanor Nevins, Graduate School Representative Marsha H. Read, Ph. D., Dean, Graduate School May, 2013 i Abstract A centenarian Basque soccer club, Athletic Club (Bilbao) is the ethnographic locus of this dissertation. From a center of the Industrial Revolution, a major European port of capitalism and the birthplace of Basque nationalism and political violence, Bilbao turned into a post-Fordist paradigm of globalization and gentrification. Beyond traditional axes of identification that create social divisions, what unites Basques in Bizkaia province is a soccer team with a philosophy unique in the world of professional sports: Athletic only recruits local Basque players. Playing local becomes an important source of subjectivization and collective identity in one of the best soccer leagues (Spanish) of the most globalized game of the world. This dissertation takes soccer for a cultural performance that reveals relevant anthropological and sociological information about Bilbao, the province of Bizkaia, and the Basques. Early in the twentieth century, soccer was established as the hegemonic sports culture in Spain and in the Basque Country; it has become a multi- billion business, and it serves as a powerful political apparatus and symbolic capital. -
Transposition of a National Sports Event Into a Transnational One on the Example of the Spanish El Clásico

Love for Barca is much pur- er, one loves it regardless of the worse times” (Ruiz, Martiarena, 2012). This diversity, exposed by confronting different styles of club management and team building, is vis- ible in the promotion of the fundamental elements that determine the identity of both teams. Situating them on two extreme positions in the axiological area determines cer- tain sympathies and creates an inseparable bond resulting from the creation of an an- tagonistic relation. The direct confrontation of these two ideas, expressed in El Clásico matches, is the culminating moment in the settlement and determination of the domi- nant entity. Analyzing this situation only in the perspective of the Spanish symbolic and sporting space, where this confrontation is an extension and expression of the Spanish- Catalan conflict, the high level of interest in the meetings is obvious. In 2018, howev- er, live coverage was carried out in 183 countries, which translated into about 650 mil- lion viewers on five continents (El Clasico, 2019). -

When these most successful football clubs meet on the field for 90 minutes of intense action, it soon becomes very clear that this is much more than just a game or just sports. -
FC Barcelona V
Tribunal Arbitral du Sport Court of Arbitration for Sport Arbitration CAS 2014/A/3793 Fútbol Club Barcelona v. Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), award of 24 April 2015 (operative part of 30 December 2014) Panel: Prof. Petros Mavroidis (Greece), President; Mr Efraim Barak (Israel); Prof. Ulrich Haas (Germany) Football International transfer of minor players Definition of the “association” responsible for the registration of minors under the RSTP Obligation of the clubs to observe the ban on transfer of minor players Principles of interpretation of a provision Transfer of players under the age of 12 Sanctions on the clubs that reached an agreement for the transfer of a minor player Obligation of the club to report players attending its academy Obligation of the club to initiate and comply with the procedure aiming at obtaining an ITC Proportionality of the sanction 1. The FIFA Statutes, to which the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP) make explicit reference, define the term “association” as “a football association recognized by FIFA. It is a member of FIFA, unless a different meaning is evident from the context”. A regional association which is a separate entity that was established and operates under a national sport structure is not a member of FIFA and, thus, is not an “association” under the terms of the FIFA Statutes. Furthermore, the basis and the rationale of the RSTP is, inter alia, to govern the international transfer of players in between national federations. Therefore, the “association” that should maintain not only the responsibility, but also the actual control and the registration of minors under the RSTP is the national association and not its affiliated regional association. -
Talent Fc Barcelona Has Enjoyed More Success Than Any Club Side In

Summary of Activity 2019/20 and Objectives 2020/21
226 SUMMARY OF ACTIVITY 2019/20 AND OBJECTIVES 2020/21 227 SUMMARY OF ACTIVITY SUMMARY OF ACTIVITY 2019/20 Outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic • The 2019/20 season will be marked by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has unfortunately affected and continues to affect millions of people around the world. As for the impact on our club, the pandemic led to the implementation of the state of alarm on 14 March 2020, which consequently led to the stoppage of all professional sports competitions, as well as the total closure of the Club's facilities. During the month of June 2020, the Club was able to partially reopen its facilities, complying with all the established protection and hygiene measures; and on 11 June 2020, the La Liga competition recommenced. • However, the Club has suffered financially from the consequences of these measures, as the matches being resumed had to be played behind closed doors, while the influx of visitors to the facilities, as well as the sale of Club products, have also been affected by the reduc- tion and limitations on international tourism. Additionally, the Euroleague Basketball competition has been cancelled, and this has also generated an associated loss of revenue for this reason. • It is with this in mind that we include below in the Club’s management report an estimate of the main financial impacts that the global 228 Covid-19 pandemic has had on the Club (in thousands of euros) and which has been sent to the Spanish National Sports Council (Consejo Superior de Deportes, CSD): Figures as at Estimated
