Il CL scelto, quello della preghiera, ci consente di accostarci ad una serie di istituzioni e riti cruciali nella comprensione del mondo biblico; in particolare nella dialettica sacrificio- preghiera possiamo individuare il superamento di una fase religiosa, quella del sacrificio cruento, mediante rituali che si sono protratti fino al giorno d’oggi in una nuova economia storico-religiosa. L’analisi linguistica, com’è stato ormai dimostrato in ampie ricerche, “è uno strumento efficace e insostituibile per conferire spessore storico ai testi e definire i dati che da essi si desumono”.2 Tale analisi è inoltre in grado di fornire elementi molto solidi, in molti casi gli unici elementi o punti di riferimento a nostra disposizione, per la datazione e la collocazione storica di corpora antichi, e per l’individuazione del Sitz im Leben non solo di narrazioni letterarie ma di eventi storici di fondamentale importanza. E’ proprio della natura delle fonti antiche di non riportare dati oggettivi, ma di raccontare eventi ricorrendo a generi letterari specifici, formulari e stilemi prefissati, retorical devices, che vanno decodificati al fine di restituirci il nucleo storico oggetto dell’indagine. Per quanto concerne la metodologia usata, essa si fonda su una ricostruzione rigorosa dei CL, di cui un antesignano è il grande linguista Coseriu. E’ un tipo di analisi alquanto complessa, che riguarda più fasi di ricerca. Tali metodi e argomenti di studio si scontrano spesso con la critica sulla limitatezza del vocabolario da analizzare. Ma come ha messo in rilievo Barr,3 la validità di tale argomento dipende dal CL dei termini da analizzare. Nell’ambito dei CL più ricorrenti nell’ebraico antico (religione, culto, rapporti dell’uomo con il sacro) è assai probabile che sia stato sfruttato quasi tutto il lessico disponibile, e ciò è provato dal gran numero di lessemi e di conseguenti attestazioni da analizzare. 1 D’ora in poi CL, sia al singolare sia al plurale. 2 I. Barr, Comparative Philology and the Text of the Old Testament, Oxford, 1968. 3 Una tale metodologia di studio, pertanto, ci permette di meglio definire fattori di ordine storico, culturale e religioso, altrimenti soggetti nella trattatistica più diffusa, ad un’investigazione molto spesso superficiale, non in grado di comprendere adeguatamente le fonti. L’aspetto diacronico è, inoltre, da un punto di vista storico, di particolare importanza. L’uso di un termine che ha significanti diversi tra l’ebraico standard e l’ebraico tardo ci aiuta a definire, ad esempio, l’epoca di composizione di un testo, soprattutto ove manchi ogni menzione diretta o indiretta di avvenimenti captabili sul piano storico, mentre le eventuali differenze dialettali, inoltre, ove riscontrabili, potrebbero aiutarci a stabilire il luogo di composizione, ove manchino nel testo in questione riferimenti più propriamente geografici. Tali studi possono quindi trovare applicazione in vari modi: ci danno la possibilità di arrivare ad una migliore comprensione dei testi in esame ed è possibile, pertanto, approntare migliori traduzioni degli stessi, possono chiarire la genesi letteraria della produzione dei testi, ed è opinione comune, nell’ambito di tali ricerche, che i risultati raggiunti debbano essere utilizzati e diventare l’indispensabile premessa per gli studi storici, di storia della cultura e di storia delle religioni. 4 ABBREVIAZIONI E SIGLE AB= The Ancor Bible, Garden City-New York 1964-1995. Il campo lessicale e le lingue funzionali L’oggetto di un’analisi semantica strutturale è quella parte del lessico che non ha un referente extralinguistico preciso e definito, ma si presenta come un continuum lessicale senza limiti definiti. In questo caso il lessico tende a strutturarsi linguisticamente, permettendo un’analisi dei significati e non dei referenti. Il campo lessicale è quindi un paradigma lessicale che si forma attraverso la suddivisione di un continuum lessicale in unità distinte, date nella lingua come parole, le quali si oppongono in forza di tratti distintivi diversi.2 Per un’analisi semantica strutturale è necessario delimitare una struttura linguistica unitaria dal punto di vista cronologico, geografico, sociale e stilistico. Secondo Coseriu “ogni studio strutturale non sarebbe possibile se non in rapporto a quella che diciamo lingua funzionale, cioè la lingua come ‘sistema’, lingua più o meno unitaria all’interno di una lingua storica, e non in rapporto a una lingua storica presa nel suo insieme, che normalmente comprende tutta una serie di ‘lingue funzionali’ talvolta notevolmente diverse”.3 La lingua funzionale, pertanto, essendo sincronica e sintopica (ovvero delimitata da un punto di vista sia temporale sia geografico), nonché sintratica e sinfasica (delimitata, cioè, nelle unità socio-culturali ed 1 Per la metodologia semantico-strutturale si vedano: E.
