Handling qualfiers run from the 1st January to the 31st December for the following year’s Crufts. If a member is disqualified, the qualification does not roll down to the next placing. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. • When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. • If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. • The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. 6 • Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. • When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. • Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. • Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Limited Rules and Regulations. Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have the right under Kennel Club Regulation to refuse any entry. 19. NOT FOR COMPETITION. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. IMPORTED REGISTER For breeds confined to the Imported Breeds Register and only when an Interim Breed Standard has been published by the Kennel Club. Such breeds may be exhibited in this class only, and are ineligible for any other competition whatsoever. ANY VARIETY NOT SEPARATELY CLASSIFIED For breeds of dog for which no separate breed classes are scheduled. YKC STAKES—Only dogs of six (6) calendar months of age and over on the day of competition are eligible for entry into a YKC qualifying stakes class. Dogs must be on the Kennel Club Breed Register to compete in a YKC stakes competition. The first placed member only in each dog group at the qualifying show will qualify for Crufts. A rosette will be awarded. If a member is disqualified, the qualification does not roll down to the next placing. All pedigree dogs are eligible to take part provided the dog is registered on the Kennel Club Breed Register. The dog must be registered a) solely or jointly in the member’s name or b) in the name of a close member of the family (i.e. a group of people related by blood or by marriage) and under these circumstances the dog must be resident at the YKC member’s address. No substitute handlers are permitted — the dog must be handled by the registered YKC member. Members are not permitted to allow another individual to show their dog at the qualifier on their behalf if they are not able to attend the class, unless agreed by the YKC Office prior to the show. Members must be aged 6 - 24 years (members 6 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). Please note that membership of the YKC terminates on a member’s 25th birthday. Therefore if a member is aged 25 years or over by the first day of Crufts they will be unable to compete in any YKC class. Please keep this in mind when entering qualifiers throughout the competing year. In order to enter any YKC competition you must be a fully paid up member at the time of entry and competition. If you enter a Crufts qualifier and you have not previously paid your membership fee then any award will be forfeited Therefore it is important to renew and maintain YKC membership as current if you wish to participate in YKC competitions. YKC HANDLING CLASSES—Only dogs of six (6) calendar months of age and over on the day of competition are eligible for entry into a YKC qualifying class. The FIRST placed handler only in each age group at the qualifying show will qualify for Crufts. A rosette is awarded to the winner. Handling qualfiers run from the 1st January to the 31st December for the following year’s Crufts. If a member is disqualified, the qualification does not roll down to the next placing. Classes for handling are decided by the handler’s age. The classes are divided into three age groups: 6-11 years (6 years and up to, but not including 12th birthday). 12-16 years (12 years and up to, but not including 17th birthday). 17-24 years (17 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). In order to enter any YKC competition, you must be a fully paid up member at the time of entry and competition. If you enter a Crufts qualifier and you have not previously paid your membership fee then any award will be forfeited. Therefore it is important to renew and maintain YKC membership as current if you wish to participate in YKC competitions. HIGHAM PRESS VETERAN STAKES For dogs of not less than seven years of age on the day of the Show. EUKANUBA CHAMPION STAKES For dogs which have been confirmed a Champion or a Show Champion, except that a dog will not be eligible for entry if it has already won a similar class for the same event during 2016. Dogs which have already qualified for the Eukanuba/Dog World Pup of the Year final are not eligible to compete. Any examination thus ordered will be made by a person having executive authority who shall have a written directive from the Kennel Club in their possession. Samples may be taken for further examination and analysis. 5 An individual has the right to lodge an objection to a dog only if he/she is the owner or handler of a dog competing in the same breed or class, an objection may, however, be lodged by an official of the Show or by anyone so deputed by the Kennel Club. It will be the responsibility of the individual who lodges the objection or the official (as appropriate) to substantiate the grounds for the objection. The Kennel Club will substantiate the grounds for an objectionmadeonitsbehalf. 6 Any objection by an individual related to an infringement of these Regulations must be made in writing to the Show Secretary at his/her office before the close of the Show and the individual must produce evidence of identity at the time of lodging the complaint.

EYE TESTING Mr Malcolm Davidson, BVM&S, CertVOphthal MRCVS (member of BVA Eye Panel), will be in attendance on each day of the Show. Testing under the KC/BVA Scheme for: 1) Progressive Retinal Atrophy, 2) Hereditary , 3) Retinal Dysplasia, 4) Collie Eye Anomaly, 5) PHPV & other diseases NOTE: Mydriatic drops which dilate the dog’s pupils will be used in all eye tests. These allow a more satisfactory examination. The drops are short acting and will not affect the performance of the dogs in the show ring (If preferred, dogs may be tested after judging). Please note that from January 2010 all dogs tested under the above schemes must have an identifying chip. No certificate can be issued if the chip is not present and readable at time of examination. Although any breed can be examined for eye disease, currently only the results of those breeds that appear on Kennel Club Schedule A of the Eye Scheme are sent to the Kennel Club for inclusion on computer records and printing in the Breeds Records Supplement.
