Upon arrival into Banff take a ride up the Gondola for a panoramic 360ø view of the Banff area. Today's sightseeing in Banff will highlight many local delights including Bow Falls, the Hoodoo Lookout, and Surprise Corner. You will also cruise for 60 minutes on Lake Minnewanka, one of Alberta's largest bodies of water, beneath the jagged peaks of Mt. Aylmer and Inglismaldie, the hoodoo clusters and into Devil's Gap. Welcome Dinner Overnight Banff DAY 2: TUESDAY, JULY 5th 2016 (B) BANFF / FERNIE Breakfast then check out of hotel 7:00am Early morning transfer to Lake Louise & Moraine Lake 8:00am – 10:00pm Lake Louise & Moraine Lake Lake Louise has become symbolic of the quintessentially Canadian mountain scene. This alpine lake, known for its sparkling blue waters, is situated at the base of impressive glacier-clad peaks that have long been at the heart of Canadian mountaineering. Located nearby, Moraine Lake, with its indigo blue waters surrounded by the Valley of the Ten Peaks, is another one of Canada’s most iconic lakes. 10:00pm – 12:00pm Transfer to Radium 12:00pm- 1:00 Lunch in Radium 3:00pm – 5:00pm Dave Lantz Ranch visit Here you will visit a small beef herd, an irrigated hay, pumpkins , squash ,corn and herb operation. 5:00pm – 6:30pm Transfer to Fernie 7:30pm Group Dinner Overnight Fernie DAY 3: WEDNESDAY, JULY 6th 2016 FERNIE / LETHBRIDGE (BD) Breakfast at hotel 8:00am – 9:30pm transfer to Frank slide - Break to stretch/Take pictures 9:30am – 11:00am Transfer to Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump 11:00am – 1:30pm Visit & Lunch Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump is an archaeological site known around the world as a remarkable testimony of the life of the Plains People through the millennia. The Jump bears witness to a method of hunting practiced by native people of the North American plains for nearly 6,000 years. Due to their excellent understanding of the regional topography and bison behaviour, native people hunted bison by stampeding them over a precipice. They then carved up the carcasses and dragged the pieces to be butchered and processed in the butchering camp set up on the flats beyond the cliffs. 2pm – 4pm Soderglen Ranches Ltd. is one of the largest Seedstock cattle operations in Canada, and the company’s land base has grown to include ranches northwest of Airdrie, southwest of Fort Macleod and southeast of Cardston. Soderglen raises grain and a variety of beef breeds – including two they have developed – concentrating on genetics of the beef business and outstanding customer service. Located in southern Alberta, the centre was established in 1906 in a ideal location to address issues related to sustainable crop produc- tion systems under dry land and irrigated conditions, environmental issues associated with a semi-arid climate, and beef pro- duction systems. It conducts research in four main areas: Beef Cattle Science Crop and Livestock Biotechnology Platforms Sustainable Crop and Livestock Production Systems Environmental Impact of Agriculture 2:30pm Frontier Western Wear Frontier Western Shop is a full service western tack, clothing and gift store located in the heart of southern Alberta's ranch and rodeo country in Claresholm, Alberta. Overnight International Hotel downtown Calgary DAY 5: FRIDAY, JULY 8th 2016, CALGARY (B) EXPERIENCE THE GREATEST OUTDOOR SHOW ON EARTH You are invited guest to the Calgary Stampede International room - meet the committee members and make agricultural connections before taking in the rodeo action. You will be given reserved seat tickets to the Calgary Stampede – explore Stampede Park on your own and then see the rodeo action starting daily at 1:15pm. The World’s Richest Rodeo featuring the world’s toughest competitors. There are six events that happen daily including: ladies barrel racing, bareback, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc and bull riding. The GMC Rangeland Derby has been described as NASCAR for cowboys, featuring four wagons, nine heats, and excitement that is measured on the Richter Scale. When the last wagon thunders across the finish line, prepare yourself for the TransAl- ta Grandstand Show: a variety extravaganza that includes comedy, elaborate song and dance numbers, acrobatics and the spectacular fireworks finale. The stage alone is an engineering marvel. The night will be among the most memorable of your life! GLENGARY BISON RANCH VISIT Glengary Bison was established in 1997.and located just a short drive North of Calgary and is operated by Gary Sweetnam and Cynthia Austin. Glengary Bison vision is to produce and promote top quality bison for breeding, as well as providing a unique, affordable, and wonderful red meat source for today’s health conscious consumer. Glengary bison are processed at a provincial government inspected abattoir which is the finest and cleanest in Alberta. All of our products are 100% bison and are represented as such; no filler or any other meat source is added in production. In September of 2003 we built an on-site farm store and installed a walk-in freezer in order to keep pace with this expanding industry.
