April 16, 2013

Get ready to rock Palm Springs! As many as 10,000 music lovers are expected to descend on downtown Wednesday, April 17 outside at the Spa Resort Casino for Tachevah, a FREE Palm Springs Block Party.

The 5 p.m. -11 p.m. concert, an official City of Palm Springs 75th anniversary event, is sponsored in partnership with Goldenvoice, The Desert Sun, P.S. Resorts, the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and community leader Harold Matzner.

The Block Party will feature emerging bands from the Coachella Valley that include The Pedestrians, The Tribesmen and You, Me & Us, along with Coachella Fest headliner Passion Pit, whose current hit “Carried Away,” recently spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Alt-Nation weekly countdown on Sirius satellite radio. The band’s latest album “Gossamer,” debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 last year and also produced the hit song, “Take A Walk.”

The Block Party, held midway between the two 2013 Coachella Music and Arts Festival weekends, will also feature local DJ Alf Alpha to keep the party rolling.

“The city of Palm Springs is the hippest most happening resort destination in Southern California and we are thrilled to welcome Goldenvoice and the inaugural Tachevah Block Party to our town during this important tourism week in the Coachella Valley,” said Mayor Steve Pougnet.

“I invite everyone in Palm Springs and beyond to visit downtown on Wednesday, April 17 and experience this one-of-a-kind block party!”
