When they launch there EVs they will be competitive but there is no reason to loose money on more EVs than to meet regulations when they could use that money to develop better cars. 0 0 Rate This Comment MAY 20, 2020 AT 8:42 AM REPLY Momolos Great to hear GM is not that far behind. In my opinion once every vehicle has Million Mile Batteries that can utilize V2G (Vehicle to Grid) it is Basically Game over for ICE vehicles, Coal, and Peaker Plants. If you think about it, an EV vehicle is basically a Rolling Battery Backup Server. It can feed energy back to the Grid whenever throughout the Day and you won’t have to worry about Battery Degradation. This will be a complete Game Changer for our Energy needs. If this becomes a reality, it will literally make Zero sense for an auto Maker to keep producing ICE Vehicles but even more importantly, it will make zero sense for the most part if Customers forego EV’s for ICE Vehicles. I can only imagine the endless possibilities of every vehicle in the World having Million Mile Batteries and V2G Software. Throw in Autonomy and EV vehicles will make the owner money. Might even be enough per month from selling Energy back to the Grid and from Autonomy Rides that the car might be paid for per month. It is Crazy just thinking about it. Tesla is most likely in the lead for all of this but I am soooooo Happy to hear that GM isn’t that far behind. And if GM is close that would mean that most likely The VW group isn’t that far behind either. Now I still believe that unless the Infrastructure around the World doesn’t keep Growing, EV’s are not for everyone just yet. Much more work needs to be done to make EV’s for the masses. No matter how quickly EV’s take o# around the World I think there will still be Niche ICE vehicles. I cannot see Vette, Lambo, and say Ferrari be Full Blown EV vehicles. They will still o#er Niche ICE options but will most likely be very pricey to help o#set the Penalties those Companies will have to pony up in !nes. That’s my opinion at least 4 5 Rate This Comment MAY 20, 2020 AT 6:50 AM REPLY Timothy Rudzinski, Sr. One situation I wonder about are the classic automobile hobbyists. • Commercial Van Electrification in North America: Ready, Set, Go!
Blog KATELYN DRAKE, AMERICAS LIGHT VEHICLE PRODUCTION FORECASTING ANALYST 11 MAY 2021 Commercial Van electrification in North America: Ready, Set, Go! The rush to electrify vehicle portfolios is officially on. Automakers have set lofty electrification goals for the coming years. Ford will invest US$29 billion in EVs by 2025; GM will spend US$27 billion on EVs and plans to electrify its entire Light Duty Vehicle range by 2035; Volvo hopes that all-electric vehicles will account for 50% of its global sales by 2025; and Subaru intends to offer a hybrid or electric version of every model in its line-up by 2035. Other automakers have set similar targets, with varying timelines and specifications, but all sharing a common theme: the readiness to electrify. The choice of which bodystyles to electrify first has been critical, along with styling and specification choices. Gone is the stereotype of a quirky electric hatchback; automakers are ready to prove to consumers that it is possible to have it all: style, functionality and an electric powertrain. “The choice of which bodystyles to electrify first has been critical...the focus has moved to all-electric Vans, particularly in the commercial sector.” SUVs were an obvious first choice, given their outsized market share, followed by Pickups, which have allowed OEMs like Ford, Stellantis, GM, Tesla and Rivian to showcase their prowess in designing rugged all-electric vehicles with impressive capabilities. More recently, however, the focus has moved to all-electric Vans, particularly in the commercial sector. The case for an all-electric delivery Van is strong.

  • Consumer Guide to Electric Vehicles
CONSUMER GUIDE TO ELECTRIC VEHICLES JUNE 2021 WHY BUY AN ELECTRIC CAR? Electric vehicles (EVs) are fun to drive, safe, comfortable, and convenient to refuel. They also cost less to operate per mile and produce no tailpipe emissions. Today’s electric cars do everything a gas car can do—and more. Most are high-performing vehicles with silent, instant torque, superb handling, and the latest technology and safety features. Most can travel 200–250 miles on a charge; many can go farther. Most EV drivers prefer to charge at home for its convenience and savings. A growing national network of public charging sites enables more consumers—even those who can’t plug in at home—to consider purchasing an EV. Because EVs are powered by electricity instead of gasoline, they shift our energy reliance to domestic sources while also reducing emissions. Cutting vehicle emissions is especially critical in communities adjacent to heavily trafficked roadways. As local power generation grows cleaner, every electric car charged on that grid gets cleaner too—and the broader public health and climate benefits increase. Electrifying light-duty transport would reduce overall greenhouse gas emissions by 17% relative to 2018 levels. EV 101 This guide highlights the two types of electric vehicles that plug into the grid to recharge their batteries. They are battery-electric (or all-electric) vehicles and plug-in hybrids. All-electric vehicles are powered solely Plug-in hybrids pair an electric motor by an electric motor and battery. They and battery with an internal-combustion burn no gasoline or diesel fuel, so they engine.
