Celebrate the beginning of British Summertime with us at the eleventh Country Fest on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 May 2020 – a fantastic family event, with delicious food and drink, countryside activities, childrens’ workshops, daring stunt displays, live music and plenty more for the whole family to get involved in. Held at the Westmorland County Showground, Crooklands, near Kendal, Country Fest is a true family event giving a real taste of the countryside, celebrating the quality and diversity of the superb independent food and drink producers and suppliers that abound in Cumbria and the North West.

There are lots of opportunities to be involved and take part in a wide range of competitions and classes for all the family, not forgetting many pets too.

This schedule includes details of the competitive sections and information about how to get involved, along with the relevant entry forms.

F1 CLUB CLASS – BRIDGING THE GAP ENTRY FEE: Class F1 £10 per entry* PRIZE MONEY: Class F1 - 1st - £100 2nd - £70 3rd - £50 An exhibit to be staged on a table 182cm long x 75cm wide, 76cm from the ground. Competitors to provide their own covering for the table. Floor placements not permitted. To be staged by maximum of 3 people from the same NAFAS club. To be viewed and judged all round. Space Allowed: Length - 250cm Width - 100cm Height - Optional

F2 PEDESTAL CLASS – THE EAST INDIA COMPANY An exhibit to be staged directly on the ground against a pale green fabric. To be viewed and judged from the front. Space Allowed: Width - 120cm Depth - 120cm Height - Optional

F3 SIMILAR TRIANGLES An exhibit to be staged directly on top of a GREY (Johnstones Soft Sheen Moonlit Sky 10048) painted solid cube 65cm x 65cm x 65cm. To be viewed and judged from all round. Space Allowed: Width - 65cm Depth - 65cm Height - 65cm

F4 EBB AND FLOW An exhibit staged directly on the ground. To be viewed and judged from all round. Space Allowed: Length - 120cm Depth - 120cm Height - 60cm

F5 CONJOINED CURVES An exhibit to be staged on a base on the ground. Base painted BROWN (Johnstones Soft Sheen Mocha M12076) 2.5cm thick x 75cm long x 75cm wide. To be viewed and judged from the front. Space Allowed: Length - 75cm Depth - 75cm Height -150cm

F6 FLIGHT OF FANCY (Limited to 6 Entries) An exhibit to include feathers, staged within a free standing wooden framework. The ‘window’ measures 73cm wide x 90cm high and is raised 77cm from the ground. Frame painted black. A hook will be provided centrally on the staging from which to hang the design. To be viewed and judged from the front. Space Allowed: Width - 73cm Depth - 60cm Height - 180cm from the ground

F7 AMONGST THE DEBRIS An exhibit to be staged on tables covered in pale green fabric. To be viewed and judged from the front. Space Allowed: Length - 70cm Depth - 70cm Height - 90cm

F8 COLOUR CONCOCTION An exhibit to be staged on tables covered in pale green fabric. To be staged without the use of floral foam. To be viewed and judged from the front. Space Allowed: Length - 70cm Depth - 70cm Height - 90cm

F9 RUST, IT’S ALL THE RAGE An exhibit to be staged on tables covered in pale green fabric. To be viewed and judged from the front. Space Allowed: Length - 70cm Depth - 70cm Height - 90cm

F10 BIRTHDAY TREAT Small exhibit to be staged on a raised platform 109cm from the ground. To be viewed and judged from the front. Space Allowed: Length - 20cm Depth - 20cm Height - 20cm

F11 NOVICE – TERRA COTTA CORNER An exhibit to be staged on tables covered in pale green fabric. Open to any competitor who has not won a 1st prize in floral art in a NAFAS or RHS competition. To be viewed and judged from the front. Space Allowed: Length - 70cm Depth - 70cm Height - 90cm

Competition Rules 1. Staging may commence 10.00am on Friday 29 May 2020. All exhibits must be completed by 6.00am on Saturday 30 May 2020. At this point all competitors must leave the marquee in preparation for judging. 2. Classes F2 – F11 must be staged by only one competitor. 3. Competitors must not remove exhibits before the close of show on Sunday at 4.00pm. All exhibits must be removed by 6.00pm, unless by prior written arrangement. 4. Classes F1 – F11 will be judged in accordance with the NAFAS Competitions Manual (2015 green book). It is strongly recommended that all competitors staging flower arrangements refer to this manual. 5. Pre-prepared work is allowed in all classes unless stated otherwise in the schedule. 6. Entry fees* include a vehicle pass and free weekend wristband to Country Fest. Additional tickets can be purchased at discounted rate in advance. 7. Entry form at the back of this schedule or enter online. 8. Prizes presented at 2.00pm on Sunday 31 May 2020.
