Rest Bonus REST1
Document a stop for four (4) or more hours starting on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Requirements: ► Document a stop for 4 or more hours beginning on the starting day above ► Earn 6 points per minute for staying in one place for a minimum of 4 hours, up to 8 hours maximum credit ► Your starting receipt may be on Tuesday, but you must then document at least 4 hours on Wednesday (no points are earned before 12:00:01 AM that day). ► As long as you begin your rest on the starting day, you can continue earning credit on the following day. ► Reminder: All times are local and the Rest Bonus must start on the specified day for time zone you are in.

Earn points for using a satellite tracking system that is functioning properly and leaving tracks of your position accessible by Iron Butt Rally Staff.

Top Secret! CO-91 Leadville Area, CO 39.3675, -106.1887 24 Hours
Near these peaks was a top secret solar observatory that was used during WWII to learn when solar flares occurred. This data was relayed to Washington so military planners would know when to expect interference on radio communications. This information was used to schedule every major operation of World War II.

The story told is that staff at the Hotel Colorado wanted to raise the spirits of President Roosevelt, who returned empty-handed from a bear hunt. Housekeeping staff patched together a bear sewn from pieces of old fabric and presented the stuffed animal to the president. Roosevelt's daughter Alice was delighted by the gift and dubbed the bear "Teddy" after her father.

The first Overseas Highway, State Road 4A, consisted of two segments both completed by 1928.

Earl Bakken was the inventor of the first implantable pacemaker and the co-founder of Medtronic. He founded the Bakken Museum in 1975.

As per the inscription on the grave marker, William McKitterick was the first known person to induce swarming bees to enter a hive by retaining the queen bee. If true, this was a major milestone in commercial agriculture.

David Houston is best known for his patent for a roll film apparatus, used to roll film in early cameras. He sold the rights to William Walker for $700. Walker then sold the rights to Eastman Dry Plate and Film Company of Rochester (Eastman Kodak). Conflicts between Eastman and Houston arose and Houston began to sell his improved designs to Eastman’s competitors.

The 100th longitudinal line west of Greenwich was a major milestone set by Congress for the first transcontinental railroad. Union Pacific reached this point on October 5, 1866.

The signature scene, a dangerous buffalo hunt from the movie The Covered Wagon was filmed here on Antelope Island. Released in 1924, this silent movie was the first western epic ever produced.

Thursday, June 24, 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm Rally staff will be available at 5 pm for scoring. Dinner will be served from 6 to 10pm
Time penalty begins at 8:00:01 pm. After 8:00:00 pm there will be a 10 points per minute penalty for being late. "Minutes" will be rounded up at one second past the key time. For example, 8:00:01 (one second past 8:00 pm) will be counted as 1 minute late. Any rider who arrives after 10:00:00 pm (beginning 10:00:01 pm) will not be considered a rally finisher.
