Understanding Television Service Options Within Community By: Olin Giles

Now that Randolph Telephone has announced that

they are exiting the TV business later this year, a number of people have asked what other options are available. While I was never a Randolph TV

customer, I recently switched from a satellite-based

TV service (DirectTV) to a streaming TV service by AT&T called ATT TV Now (www.atttvnow.com). I March 8 made this change for cost reasons. Daylight Savings Time Begins

March 17 Overall, I am pleased with the change. Today, however, I would definitely choose St. Patrick’s Day

YouTube TV over ATT TV Now. I believe that YouTubeTV, a Google company, March 23 (https://tv.youtube.com) is a superior offering at a much more favorable price. Let me ONSCA Board Meeting 9 am at Clubhouse explain some of the basic concepts behind streaming TV and what I recommend. April 15 Streaming TV is the future of TV. With internet service increasingly delivered by high Tax Day

speed fiber optic networks, it makes perfect sense to deliver TV channels over the same April 16—20 internet network. While Randolph provided TV service over such a network, they simply Men’s ACC Golf Championship didn’t have the customer base or scale to negotiate favorable pricing from the various TV channels/networks. Randolph did an admirable job, but in the long run, their efforts were April 12 doomed to fail. Easter

April 27 The article on pages 10-12 of this newsletter provides a good summary of some seven ONSC Board Meeting streaming TV service providers that you may want to consider. One of the services is 9 am at Clubhouse and others range from $5 to north of $100 per month. I recommend that you read this ______summary and make a service provider choice based on the channels offered versus Members may attend any the price and other features. Most offer 30-day free trials, and you are generally free to regular board meeting as an switch services without penalty. observer. In order to address the board on a specific topic, you must be added to the Typically, the various streaming services allow you to stream up to three different channels agenda one week prior to the concurrently to up to any three TVs. In my case, I can stream up to three channels from meeting date. ATT TV Now to a number of TVs around the house, but only three TVs can be streamed from the streaming service at any point in time. One neat thing about streaming is that a “big box” is not required because the DVR feature or storage is cloud-based (remote storage). There is usually a video storage limit and storage duration before the video is automatically erased. To accommodate three concurrent channels, you will need an internet speed of at least 25 megabits per second (MBS). At first, I had 25 MBS, and I experienced occasional network overload warnings, so Randolph increased the internet speed to 50 MBS. This is adequate to cover three concurrent TV channels, plus , and a number of computers during the holiday season, when we have so many guests.

You will need a “Smart TV” or a high definition digital TV. Most of the new TVs in the last several years are smart TVs. With a smart TV you simply download or use an App for the service provider that you select, and for which you set-up an account. If you have an older high definition TV (one with an HDMI connector), you can buy a dongle-like device (about the size of a large ) with a small remote control that allows you to receive streaming TV channels after you sign-up for a plan. (www.roku.com) and Fire Stick TV (www.amazon.com) are the leading suppliers of such devices, and their cost is in the $25-50 range. Apple offers a somewhat larger device that costs approximately MARCH 8 $100-$150. Even though I have several smart TVs, I chose to equip most of my TVs with 2 Streaming Options (continued) the Fire Stick 4K TV dongle and remote control so that all TVs function in the same manner. I also have one TV with an Apple TV device, but the Apple remote is very sensitive and more difficult to use.

If you choose the Fire Stick TV dongle, I recommend that you select the 4K version. It features a faster processor and takes less time to power-up each time you use it. It also positions you for the newer 4K TVs and their higher definition displays.

All of my TVs are fed over WiFi from one central point in the house. There is no need for individual coax cables or cat5 wiring to each TV location. You just plug the TV in the wall and connect the dongle to the HDMI jack on the back of your TV (if not a smart TV). If you have an audio sound system for your TV, plug the dongle into the HDMI connector on the audio system. Of course, if you prefer, you can run a cat5 cable from your internet modem/router to your TV. In my case, the WiFi approach works great.

Some of the streaming services offer local channels. With my current ATT TV Now service, I have the Charlotte local channels for the main networks and PBS. In order to receive the Charlotte channels, I had to indicate that I live in Stanly County, as our zip code encompasses several counties, some of which will result in Greensboro/Winston Salem local channels. YouTubeTV will ask whether you want the Charlotte or Greensboro/Winston Salem local channels once you enter your zip code. You will have to check out the other streaming services.

As I said at the outset, today I would choose YouTubeTV for my streaming service. I like the channel lineup and the cost. My ATT TV Now service just raised the monthly cost to just over $100/month, compared to about $75 just a few months ago. Compare this to about $50/month for YouTubeTV and over 70-80 channels. One reason that I didn’t choose YouTubeTV at the outset is that the Hallmark channel movies are not offered on this channel. I have since learned that you can subscribe to the Hallmark channel as a stand-alone streaming service for $5/month.

Keep in mind that you are free to use more than one streaming service to get the channels you want. I hope these suggestions help you get started.

The new access system software went live on January 20th and since that time the majority of property owners have logged in to their Visitor Scheduling account and input their permanent visitors. Overall the system is functioning well with a few minor issues still under review and being adjusted.

With the system now stable, we are ready to proceed with the next step to allow Security personnel to process visitors curbside. This process will function similarly to the experience of going through the drive-thru at Chick-fil-A . . . however, your visitors shouldn’t expect to receive a number one combo with waffle fries.

During periods of high traffic volume, a Security Officer will be curbside to greet and process your visitor. Once the visitor provides their name and destination, the Officer can use a handheld tablet to look up your account to see if the visitor is authorized to enter. Once access is validated, the Officer will scan the visitors’ driver’s license and print a visitor pass. All of this will be done curbside in a matter of seconds without having to go in and out of the guardhouse to check the system and print a pass.

The curbside processing system will be very helpful to keep traffic moving particularly during holidays, golf outings, weddings, etc.

Property owners can also help keep traffic moving by ensuring that their visitors are scheduled in advance of arrival. It is the responsibility of property owners to schedule their visitors. With three options now available to schedule visitors (online, voicemail, or App), property owners can quickly schedule visitors anywhere and anytime. Therefore, as of March 1st, the access procedures have been re-instated and Security staff are not authorized to accept visitor scheduling from property owners over the phone, by a written list, or in-person.

With the help of new equipment, a new system, and property owners doing their part, all visitors can be processed quickly without delay. Visitors who are not scheduled prior to arrival will be asked to pull to the side and contact the property owner so they can be scheduled for access.

If you haven’t tried the new TekWave App. . . check it out . . . we are receiving a lot of “app”lause for it! 8 Reminiscing About Growing Up With Shag In The Carolinas By: Fred Ingle, Resident

THE BASIC

I started going to dances in my hometown of Hickory, NC when I was 14. My mom would take my best friend and I, to the dance which started around 7:00 p.m. and we would find a ride home. That was in 1964. The name of the dance club was the “Dragons Foot” and the ages allowed were 13 to 18. No alcohol was served. That is where I learned to Shag. Most of the guys leaned back against the wall and did not dance. I guess that was the cool “stud” thing to do. However, I soon learned that if you knew how to dance, you could get all the girls’ attention. I actually learned the Shag from my best friend’s sister who was two years older than me. She did not have a dance partner most of the time, so she dragged me out on the floor. The dance I learned was simple, with a six count and a few turns. It was FUN and my friend’s sister was pretty. But that was just it; it was the time to learn about the other gender and it all started with a dance later known as the Shag.

OUR DANCE

Carolina Beach Music is not a genre created by big name recording studios. It’s a product of the music that kids wanted to dance to. Many big-name artists altered their music to fit the dance. The Shag was based on the jitterbug and swing dancing. However, the kids slowed it down to make the dance sexier and more to their own style. The dance was sometimes called the “Basic” or the “Bop” before it was called the “Shag.” The music that we danced to was mostly from African American artists.

You have to remember this was during the Civil Rights Era of the 1960s. But, as kids, we did not care. It was “our” music and “our” dance and “our” time. There was no racial divide when it came to the artists we loved and the music they gave us. Names like Ben E. King, Mary Wells, and General Johnson still live in our memories. They were and are our heroes and partners in our dance. We will be forever grateful for their contribution to our dance music. The music and the dance were regional and started at Ocean Drive with a bunch of fun-loving kids, thus the name “Carolina Beach Music”. It still brings the youth out in those of us who grew up with it.

THE BEACH

When I was a junior in high school, I worked in a grocery store as a bagboy. There were several of us bagboys that hung together. My first trip to Myrtle Beach was with three fellow workers during Easter vacation. This would be the first of many trips to the beach. We would leave on Saturday afternoon after work and make the trek to the beach just in time to dance a bit, spend the night in the car and drive back home on Sunday evening, tired and broke. We had many embellished stories to tell when we got back home!

GETTING THERE

I got my driver’s license in 1966. My first car was a 1956 Volkswagen (bug). I paid $75 for the car. The VW had a whopping 36 horsepower. It had a crank back canvas sunroof, no gas gauge, and heat ducts that were in the floor that ran off air from the air-cooled engine. The heat was so hot that you had to take off your shoes, but the heat did not make it up into the upper part of the cabin of the car. So, often we would have our shoes off and wear a toboggan to warm our freezing ears. It was considered the deluxe model VW because it had an AM radio. It was made to seat 4 or 5 depending on body type. We went to the beach one time with 8 passengers and a driver. We were not as good of friends when we got there, as when we started. Plus, nobody was looking forward to the ride home.

OCEAN DRIVE

Ocean Drive (North Myrtle Beach) got its name because cars were allowed on the beach for a period of time after Myrtle Beach made laws to prohibit cars on the beach. Also, camping was allowed on the beach at Ocean Drive but was later prohibited. Thus, the lax laws, camping on the beach, and the “Pad” were the reason for Ocean Drive becoming the epicenter of teen congregations and the original home of the Shag dance. We hung out at the “Pad.” The Pad was originally a bunk house for lifeguards at the beach. The bunk rooms were upstairs, and the downstairs was just a dirt area with picnic tables where the lifeguards ate. That dirt area became the dance floor and a small floored area became the bar. Later a floor was installed in the bottom area and a dirt lot next door was opened and fenced in for dancing. That was also the dance area where we got “sand in our shoes”. The fence was to hide the dancers because older folks thought the Shag was uncouth. Other famous hang outs were Fat Harold's, Duck’s and the Spanish Galleon. 9 (Shag continued)

ROAD TRIP ON 5 BUCKS

My friends and I made minimum wage working at the grocery store which was $1.25 per hour. I usually cleared about $11.00 to $12.00 per week. Money was tight but we stretched our hard-earned dollars. Gas was 25 cents per gallon so we would fill the tank up for $2.25 and save the rest to buy 19 cent Bell Burgers. The burgers were the worst tasting organic mass EVER, but it filled our stomachs. We stayed at what we referred to as Ocean Forest. “Ocean Forest” to us meant the ocean in the daytime and the forest at night. The real Ocean Forest was a grand hotel built right on the ocean in the 1920’s Gilded Age. It hosted many celebrities and several residents. Another place we stayed was the B&W. We would answer the question of where we were staying, by saying that we were staying at the B&W which meant the bushes and woods. We would also sleep in the car to save money.

PBR

The drinking age for beer was 18 and for hard liquor, it was 21. Although some of us were underage, we used draft cards (Selective Service Cards) from older guys to buy beer. There were no pictures on driver’s license or draft cards then so if your hair color, eye color, height, and weight were similar to a “loaned” driver’s license of a person of legal age, you could get by. Pabst Blue Ribbon beer was the drink of choice due to the availability and lower price. They were 25 cents each. I had no issues with consuming my weight in PBR’s, but I only weighed 130 lbs.

WHAT TO WEAR?

All shoes back then had leather soles and heels which made dancing easier since the leather soles would not stick to the floor. Also, sawdust, sand, or powder was sprinkled on the floor to make it easier to “slide”. The standard shoes were Bass Weejuns (penny loafers). They were expensive and cost about $12 per pair. My mother, who was a single mom, worked in a textile mill. We did not have extra money or a savings account. I wanted a pair of Bass Weejuns so badly when I started high school, but I knew the family budget would not allow this luxury. However, my mom surprised me with a pair of Weejuns. She did not eat lunch at work for a month and saved the money to buy the loafers. I have never forgotten that.

GIRL TROUBLE

Taking a date to the beach was like taking sand to the beach. Why bother when there was plenty there? Remember these were the days when cohabitation with your girlfriend at the beach could start a cultural uproar. I remember Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs recorded the song, “May I” and one of the lyrics was “May I Sleep With You?” It was banned from many radio stations. So, if our girlfriends were at the beach, they were staying in separate quarters. That is not to say there weren’t some “very intimate” encounters, but it was more discreet. Enough said about that.

LOCAL SHAG

When I moved to this area after college, I went to John’s Tavern on Stokes Ferry Road off Hwy. 49. The Pfeiffer College girls would come to drink and dance. The place would be packed. The parking lot across the street would be running over. To this day, you can still see the painted crosswalk from the parking lot across the street to the dance hall. John’s Tavern had some of the biggest beach bands performing in that little place in the middle of nowhere. Bands like the Spontanes, the Catalinas, Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs from Charlotte, and the Georgia Prophets from to name a few. Also, the Embers from Raleigh, and General Johnson and the Chairmen of the Board (originally the Showmen) came to John’s. These were big time names in beach music and their appearance at John’s was a BIG deal.

S.O.S.

The Shag dance and Carolina Beach Music started diminishing with the British music invasion of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones in the mid-1960s. Also, the hippie era of Woodstock and the heavy metal bands became the music of the next young generation. However, in the 1980’s Shag and beach music were resurrected by its faithful fans. Many areas started Shag Clubs in the 1980s. Ocean Drive became the mecca again for the 30, 40, and 50-year olds to return to their youth. Shag dance competitions began and continue to this day. The Spring migration to Ocean Drive is called SOS and the Fall pilgrimage is called the Fall Migration. There are also events in between including Shag dance workshops. This year, April 16-25 are the dates for the Spring SOS at the famous little strip of sand, known as the Grand Strand. It's worth the trip to watch the pros dance. It's also the official event to signify that summer is about here and it is time for some sun, fun, and dancing. 10 The Best Live TV Streaming Services for 2020 https://www.pcmag.com/picks/the-best-live-tv-streaming-services By: Ben Moore, PC Magazine

Have you ditched your cable provider, but still want to watch primetime network shows and sports? Subscribe to one of these top live TV services and get all the coverage you want over your internet connection.

How to Choose the Right Video Streaming Service Live TV Without Cable Canceling your cable contract does not mean that you can no longer watch live TV, because there are many video streaming services that deliver live channels over an internet connection—though not all of them target the same audiences. For instance, some live TV services are good for general audiences, others offer all sports coverage, and a few focus on entertainment. All of the options in this roundup are available across many platforms, including mobile devices, web browsers, gaming consoles, and media streaming devices. Depending on which (and how many) services you subscribe to, you may not end up saving money over cable, but not everyone leaves cable to save money. Some people may just cherish the freedom to build an à la carte channel plan. Whatever your reason for leaving cable behind, know that the number of streaming options continues to rise. Note that we've removed PlayStation Vue from this story since has ended the service.

Network Shows, News, and More So long as the video streaming service you choose offers affiliate broadcast channels in your market, you can watch all your favorite network shows from the likes of ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC. Most of the services here, including YouTube TV and + Live TV host these networks. Other television channels aren't dependent on your geographic location. is an excellent option for watching such entertainment networks, including AMC, Animal Planet, , HGTV, Lifetime, , and Travel Channel. Many video streaming services with entertainment channels also include on-demand content from those channels that you can watch at your leisure and record to DVR storage. Other services combine live TV with more traditional on-demand libraries. A subscription to Hulu + Live TV, for instance, allows you to watch all the shows and movies from Hulu's on-demand service, including its original shows. Although news channels may not be the primary way people stay informed about the world these days, they are still a good resource for live coverage of national and international events. For complete news coverage, make sure the service you choose includes both commercial broadcast affiliates (ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC) and cable news channels (such as BBC America, CNN, CNBC, Fox News, and MSNBC). Some services also include news networks not based in the US, such as BBC News and Al Jazeera English. AT&T TV Now, fuboTV, and Sling TV, for instance, all offer international channels, though you will need to pay extra for some of them.

Stream All Your Favorite Sports, Live To watch all the sports that you previously could with your cable subscription, you should consult our roundup of the best sports streaming services. When picking a service, verify that it carries all the channels you want to watch in your area, including regional sports networks (RSNs) for coverage of local teams. Not all services include all the major league channels either, such as NFL Network, NBA Live, or MLB Network. Ensuring that a service covers all the affiliate broadcast channels in your area from CBS, Fox, and NBC is also important, since many games air on those channels. Know that you are not exempt from local market restrictions or coverage blackouts. We assume that you want the best streaming quality for watching your favorite teams no matter what device you use. YouTube TV is the only service that supports 1080p live streams, though fuboTV does broadcast select events in 4K. A few services also have useful capabilities for sports fans. AT&T TV Now and fuboTV, for instance, both include features that respectively let you start over broadcasts from the beginning and watch games that have aired in the past few days. Note that these features are only available on select channels.

If you are an NFL fan, check out our roundup of the best NFL streaming services to make sure you can watch all the games on Thursday, Sunday, and Monday. If you don't want to pay additional fees every month to watch NFL games, there are some free options. For instance, the NFL and Yahoo Sports apps allow you to watch in-market and national broadcast games, including , Sunday Night Football, and Monday Night Football. Subscribers to Amazon Prime can also watch Thursday Night Football games at no additional cost.

11 (Streaming Services continued)

DVR and Apps All of the streaming services in this roundup offer some DVR capabilities. If you are the kind of viewer that likes to save and rewatch significant TV moments, you should ideally look for a service that lets you record many hours' worth of shows and keep them indefinitely. Robust DVR capabilities are useful for sports fans too; some games may air at an inconvenient time. Families can benefit from DVR features as well if there are more shows on at the same time than you have simultaneous streams. One convenience with video streaming services is they work on many different platforms and don't require any additional hardware or configuration. The best live TV streaming services support mobile devices, game consoles, web browsers, streaming devices, and smart TVs. With some services, you also get greater control over accessibility settings and parental controls than with cable. Sling TV lets parents restrict what their kids can watch by rating, for example.

Additional Live TV Options We don't include single-channel options such as CBS All Access or ESPN+ in this roundup, since they don't offer nearly enough content to replace cable. Technically, (Thursday Night Football) and Dazn (boxing and MMA matches), allow you to watch some live TV, too. However, these services are not a reasonable alternative to a cable subscription, as they are far too narrow in scope. You don't absolutely need to pay to stream live TV. Pluto TV, for example, offers live TV for free. is another option for people in major broadcast markets such as , , New York, , and . That service is currently tied up in a lawsuit with several commercial broadcast networks, so we are not sure how long it will be a viable option. In that same vein, you could absolutely set up a digital antenna and tuner to pull down local channels over the air. Also, if an event is popular enough, such as a political debate or the Super Bowl, the broadcast may be free to stream online from the organizer's web site.

On-Demand Options Although you may intend to replicate your cable experience on a 1:1 basis with video streaming services, we recommend that you don't. Take some time to reflect and determine which channels you actually watch on a regular basis. On-demand services open up an entirely new world of content, with many shows that don't ever air on traditional cable. These on demand shows also tend to be the subject of pop culture discussions and critical acclaim. Amazon Prime Video's The Marvelous Ms. Maisel, CBS All Access' Star Trek: Discovery, Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale, and Netflix's Stranger Things are just a few examples. Upcoming services such as Apple TV+ and Disney+ will also feature original content that you can't get anywhere else.

Best Live TV Services Featured in This Roundup: YouTube TV $49.99 per month YouTube TV is a great all-around cable replacement service with an impressive range of sports, news, and entertainment channels. Top networks include ABC, AMC, CBS, CNN, ESPN, Fox, and NBC. The service recently added content from the Discovery network too, with channels such as Animal Planet, Food Network, HGTV, and Travel Channel. NBA League Pass, Showtime, and are available as subscription add-ons. YouTube TV can keep an unlimited number of DVR recordings for up to nine months and you can stream from up to three devices simultaneously. We particularly like its sleek apps and solid performance in our tests. PlayStation 4 owners should take a look at this service in particular, since it is the best live TV option for that console.

Hulu $5.99 per month; $54.99 for Hulu + Live TV Hulu's live TV service features approximately 60 channels of news, sports, and entertainment programming. News channels include ABC, CBS, CNBC, CNN, CNN International, Fox Business, Fox News, and MSNBC. Animal Planet, Cartoon Network, Discovery, Disney, Food Network, FX, HGTV, National Geographic, and SYFY cover the entertainment genre, but Hulu does lack channels, such as , MTV, and Nickelodeon. For sports fans, Hulu offers BTN, CBS Sports, ESPN, Golf Channel, and the Olympic Channel. Hulu also gets you access to local CBS, Fox, and NBC affiliates. HBO or Showtime add-ons are available for $14.99 and $8.99 per month, respectively. Note that the Hulu + Live TV plan used to only cost $44.99. If Hulu's standard DVR allotment of 50 hours is not enough, you can add the Enhanced Cloud DVR option (increases limit to 200 hours). By default, you can stream from up to two devices simultaneously, but the Unlimited Screens package removes those limitations. Either add-on costs $14.99 per month, but you can get both for $19.99 per month. Hulu supports an impressive range of gadgets, but the PlayStation 3 and 4 do not support live TV streams. fuboTV $54.99 per month Although fuboTV may be associated with sports coverage, its 90-channel lineup delivers lots of news and entertainment channels, too. Starting with sports, fuboTV offers NBC, CBS, Fox, NFL Network, and NBA TV, as well as beIN network 12 (Streaming Services Continued) and for international coverage. Notably, fuboTV is missing ESPN. Entertainment channels include AMC, The Food Network, FX, National Geographic, SYFY, and USA. Viacom and Discovery channels are the latest additions. Aside from the live programming on these channels, fuboTV offers a ton of on-demand shows and movies too. You can supplement the base fubo Standard plan with add-ons, including the Sports Plus ($8.99 per month) and Adventure Plus ($4.99 per month) options. Fubo Extra, which offers an additional 35 channels of content, adds $4.99 more to your monthly bill. FuboTV offers good DVR capabilities (starting at 30 hours) and solid streaming performance in our tests. It also includes useful capabilities such as Lookback, which lets you watch anything you may have missed up to 72 hours after it first aired, and Startover, which enables viewers to watch currently airing events from the beginning no matter when they tune in.

Philo $20 per month Philo is an entertainment-focused streaming service and an excellent value. A $20-per-month subscription lets you stream 58 channels, including AMC, Animal Planet, BBC America, BET, Cooking Chanel, Comedy Central, Discovery Channel, Food Network, HGTV, and the Travel Channel. Philo offers few news channels and no sports coverage, so it's best for users who don't care about either genre. Philo's DVR capabilities work differently than other services; it allows users to save the entire available catalog of a show for on-demand (but not offline) viewing, instead of just a single episode. Philo keeps saved shows for 30 days but does not impose any storage limits. Philo supports up to three concurrent streams and performed well across all platforms in testing.

Sling TV $30 per month Sling TV distributes channels across its Orange and Blue plans (each $30 per month). You should subscribe to the combined $45-per-month Sling Orange & Blue plan for the best selection of channels. That tier supports four simultaneous streams. Sling Orange & Blue's 50-channel lineup includes AMC, CNN, , ESPN, Food Network, NFL Network, TNT, Travel Channel, and SYFY. Note, however, that Sling TV is not a good option for getting local affiliate channels; if you want Fox and CBS channels you need to install an antenna or find an alternative. NBC channels are available in select markets Sling's channel add-ons start at $5 per month. For instance, the Kids Extra add-on includes Disney XD, Nicktoons, and Boomerang, while the Sports Extra add-on features ESPN U, NBA TV, NHL Network, and PAC 12 Network. Sling TV allows you to record up to 10 hours to DVR storage, but you can expand that space to 50 hours with a $5-per-month add-on. Sling is available on mobile phones, streaming devices, the Xbox console (but not PlayStation), and via the web (Chrome and Edge).

AT&T TV Now $65 per month AT&T TV Now, previously DirecTV Now, offers several tiers, ranging from the 40-channel Plus plan for $65 per month to the 125-channels Ultra plan, which costs $135 per month. These plans cover a broad collection of sports, news, and entertainment channels. You can add HBO, , Showtime, and Starz to your plan, though note that the first two channels are included with the two cheapest plans. AT&T TV Now also caters to international audiences with Brazilian, Korean, and Vietnamese channel packages, in addition to its Español and Deportes add-ons. AT&T TV Now lets subscribers record up 20 hours of content for up to 30 days, but most other services let subscribers keep more content for longer. If the default limit of two simultaneous streams is not enough for your household, you can pay an additional $4.99 per month to increase that limit to three devices. Other features include the Lookback and Rewind feature, which respectively let you watch previously aired content (up to 72 hours in the past) and start over live streams from the beginning of the broadcast. These capabilities are only available for select channels and programs.

Pluto TV Free If you don't want to pay money to watch live TV, Pluto TV is your best legal option. However, most of Pluto TV's 190 channels are not those that you would find on cable or even on other live TV services. Pluto TV does have a few top- tier channels across the news (CBSN, Cheddar News, CNN, NBC News) and entertainment genres (BET Pluto TV, Comedy Central, MTV Pluto TV, Paramount Movie Channel), but sports fans won't find much in the way of live coverage. Music channels and eclectic entries, such as Cats 24/7 and Slow TV, round out its lineup. You shouldn't expect to find many of the top features that other live TV streaming services offer, such as DVR capabilities or elegant apps, but Pluto TV does notably have a small library of shows and movies you can watch on-demand. Since Pluto TV is free and doesn't even require an account to watch, it effectively has no simultaneous streaming limits. Note that most of Pluto TV's content streams in sub-HD resolution and at 30fps though. 13 Check out these Classified Ad listings on the website: www.myoldnorthstateup.org
