Clarke, who has had more than 50 amateur bouts, is one of five Palm island boxers who will cruise across the briny to compete at Arcadia Hotel. The others are Darryl Richardson, Jase Thimble, Brayden Nallajar and Joseph Nallajar. “Patrick has been training the house down over here at the PCYC Gym,” trainer Ray Dennis said. “He’s fronted up for six straight sessions and is very serious about turning pro.” Pro boxers are paid to play, unlike their amateur counterparts. Mr Dennis feels that Clarke could have a good career in the pro ranks if matched well early on and provided his enthusiasm remains high.
