The present study provides a DNA barcode library for the world Zygaenidae (Lepidoptera). This study reports 1031 sequence data of the COI gene DNA barcodes for more than 240 species in four of the five subfamilies of the family Zygaenidae. This is about 20% of the world Zygaenidae species. Our results demonstrate the specificity of the COI gene sequences at the species level in most of the studied Zygaenidae and agree with already established taxonomic opinions. The study confirms the effectiveness of DNA barcod- ing as a tool for determination of most Zygaenidae species. -

Due to several hints it is assumed that the specimens originate from Josef Mann’s journey to Dobrudscha from May to July 1865. If this is true, it is the first known record ofA. obscura from Romania. Since then, A. obscura has not been observed in this country. [1] Philipp Christoph Zeller (1808-1883); German entomologist. Skippers, Butterflies and a Harvester Moth recorded on the Greek island of Sími, late April 2010 (Lepidoptera: Hesperioidea, Papilionoidea, Zygaenidae) John G. Coutsis & Hrístos T. Anastassíu Abstract. The results of two days’ collecting on the Greek Island of Sími are being presented together with an account of the island’s previous lepidopterological records. Gegenes pumilio and Nymphalis polychloros are reported from Sími for the first time and Jordanita anatolica is reported as new to the Greek fauna. Moreover, unusual FW upperside and HW underside colour features in male Satyrium ilicis are being presented and discussed. -

Sampling was performed between May and September in 2017 and 2018 in Adana, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Mersin and Osmaniye Provinces. This area is a zoogeographical junction between central Anatolia and the Levant. The species were collected by sweep net and visual control methods. Thirteen Zygaenidae species identified: Theresimima ampellophaga (Bayle-Barelle, 1808), Adscita (Adscita) obscura (Zeller, 1847), Jordanita (Tremewania) notata (Zeller, 1847), Jordanita (Praviela) anatolica (Naufock, 1929), Jordanita (Solaniterna) subsolana (Staudinger, 1862) (Procridinae), Zygaena (Mesembrynus) diaphana Staudinger, 1887, Zygaena (Mesembrynus) graslini Lederer, 1855, Zygaena (Mesembrynus) punctum Ochsenheimer, 1808, Zyganea (Agrumenia) olivieri Boisduval, 1828, Zygaena (Agrumenia) carniolica (Scopoli, 1763), Zygaena (Agrumenia) viciae (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Zygaena (Agrumenia) loti (Denis & Schiffermüller, -

TARMANN Abstract The Zygaenidae fauna in some provinces (Aksaray, Karaman, Kayseri, Konya, Nevşehir and Niğde) of Central Anatolia was studied using attractant traps as well as by netting specimens in biotopes in 2017. The sex attractants for the Procridinae had been produced in the Crimean Federal University and were esters of 2-dodecenoic acid and isomers of 2-butanol: EFETOV-2 [racemic mixture of R- and S-enantiomers], EFETOV-S-2 [R-enantiomer] and EFETOV-S-S-2 [S-enantiomer]. Zygaena attractants were made at Canterbury Christ Church University using a range of acetate compounds with known attraction to various genera as originally identified by Priesner et al. (1984). Fourteen Zygaenidae species from four genera belonging to Procridinae and Zygaeninae subfamilies were found: Rhagades Wallengren, 1863 (1 species), Adscita Retzius, 1783 (1 species), Jordanita Verity, 1946 (4 species), and Zygaena Fabricius, 1775 (8 species). KeyWords: Central Anatolia, Procridinae, sex attractants, Turkey, Zygaenidae, Zygaeninae Öz Orta Anadolu’nun bazı illerinde (Aksaray, Karaman, Kayseri, Konya, Nevşehir ve Niğde) Zygaenidae faunasını belirlemek için 2017 yılında, türlerin yaşam alanlarında, çekici tuzaklar ve atrap kullanılarak çalışılmıştır. -

Tarmann Abstract Sex attractants for Rhagades (Wiegelia) predotae (Naufock, 1930) and Adscita (Tarmannita) bolivari (Agenjo, 1937), two endemic Iberian Procridinae species (Lepidoptera: Zygaenidae), are reported for the first time. During fieldwork in Spain in 2017 and 2018, the males of Rh. predotae and Rh. (Rhagades) pruni ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) were attracted to the lures with the substance “EFETOV-S-S-2” (S-enantiomer of 2-butyl 2- dodecenoate), while the males of A. bolivari reacted to “EFETOV-2” (a racemic mixture of R- and S-enantiomers). This result (together with our previous data) shows that (2S)-butyl 2-dodecenoate is likely to be a “generic” sex attractant for the males of the genus Rhagades Wallengren, 1863. -
