Trainer J. Larry Jones. Bred by Olin B. Gentry & Thomas B. Gaines (KY ). LOVELY MARIA shadowed the leaders four wide, was bumped near the half mile marker when SHOOK UP came out, was undaunted by the contact and kept on well within striking position, moved up to tackle ANGELA RENEE midway through the second turn, established a slim lead a furlong out and kicked away through the final sixteenth. SHOOK UP attended the pace off of the inside, came out and bumped LOVELY MARIA after the opening five furlongs, tucked back toward the inside through the second turn, moved out into the four path entering the stretch, continued on well but was unable to match strides with the winner. I'M A CHATTERBOX angled in at once to save ground, advanced between rivals through the second turn, tipped out five wide entering the stretch, finished willingly and was making up ground. STELLAR WIND steadied a bit early, leveled into stride between rivals, moved up through second turn, swung nine wide entering the lane and improved position. BIRDATTHEWIRE was rank to place between horses into the first turn, leveled into stride and settled along the inside, shifted out entering the stretch and made a mild improvement. ANGELA RENEE prompted the pace three wide, forged a narrow lead with three furlongs to run, disputed the issue to the final furlong and faltered. OCEANWAVE was unhurried into stride, angled to the inside to save ground, swung nine wide entering the stretch and finished with a belated gain. INCLUDE BETTY settled along the inside, came three wide, was hemmed in between horses nearing the furlong marker, bumped ESKENFORMONEY at the eighth pole, steadied and went evenly thereafter. CONDO COMMANDO set the pressured pace along the inside, was headed after six furlongs, stayed on to the final furlong, but tired and drifted about as she faded. ESKENFORMONEY came away a bit slow, was unhurried into stride, split horses and angled to the inside on the second turn, got through entering the stretch, was bumped when INCLUDE BETTY came in and came up empty. FOREVER UNBRIDLED attended the pace four wide in hand, ranged up to make a mild bid but tired between horses entering the stretch and retreated. PUCA was hung wide throughout and was never a factor. MONEY'SONCHARLOTTE contended between foes, drifted out eight wide leaving the second turn, tired before going a mile and dropped out. SARAH SIS settled between horses, came six wide, pulled up nearing the furlong marker and was vanned off. Owners- 7, Brereton C. • 141St Longines Kentucky Oaks Post-Race News Conference Friday, May 1, 2015 Churchill Downs
141st Longines Kentucky Oaks Post-Race News Conference Friday, May 1, 2015 Churchill Downs JOHN ASHER: At the podium, is Dr. Keith Latson. He is the American Association of Equine Practitioners on-call veterinarian for the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks. We're very happy to have Dr. Latson here. He was here with us last year and back with us here, succeeding Dr. Larry Bramlage in that job. Number 11, Sarah Sis, pulled up and did not finish in the Kentucky Oaks. And Dr. Latson has come forward. We appreciate him stopping by to give us an update on her condition. Again, this regards Number 11, Sarah Sis, who did not finish in the Kentucky Oaks. Dr. Latson. DR. KEITH LATSON: Thanks, John. Gary Stevens eased Sarah Sis to a stop about midstretch because she just didn't feel right to him. Nothing specific that he could identify while he was on top of her. She just didn't feel right. He hopped off, and Dr. Will Farmer attended to Sarah Sis immediately. And it was obvious that she was standing on all four legs comfortably, no apparent injury to any of her limbs. She walked comfortably to be loaded on the equine ambulance where Dr. Liz Santschi attended to her for the ride back to the barn. When she was unloaded from the ambulance at the barn, Dr. Foster Northrop had a look at her. And she was still walking. Sarah Sis was still walking comfortably in the barn and was being treated for mild heat exhaustion. So it was a precautionary measure to take her back in the ambulance and for Gary Stevens to wrap up on her and ask her to stop.
