If you wish to use the lift to visit Open Studios you can go straight to John's Mews (it is the blue, concertina shutter, just after the motorcycle bay on the right) and press the lift bell for attention. Trains and tubes: Nearest stations are Chancery Lane (Central line), Holborn (Central/Piccadilly lines), Russell Square (Piccadilly line) and Kings Cross tube and mainline station. Buses: 17 (Archway to London Bridge) – stops Grays Inn Road 19 (Finsbury Park to Battersea Bridge) – stops Theobalds Road 38 (Clapton Pond to Victoria Station) – stops Theobalds Road 45 (King’s Cross to Streatham Hill) – stops Grays Inn Road 46 (Stonewater Street to Warwick Avenue) – stops Grays Inn Road 55 (Leyton to Oxford Circus) – stops Theobalds Road 243 (Wood Green to Waterloo) – stops Theobalds Road FROM HOLBORN TUBE Turn right out of Holborn tube, crossing High Holborn onto Southampton Row. Keep going down the road until you see the Cochrane Theatre on the right and turn onto Theobalds Road. After 100 yards turn left onto Gt James Street. At the end of the street bear right into Northington Street. Look out for a signs for Cockpit Yard/Cockpit Arts on the right. (Takes approx. 7 minutes) FROM CHANCERY LANE TUBE Turn left onto Gray’s Inn Road, after about 150 yards take the third turning on the left (the one after Theobalds Rd) onto Northington Street. Cockpit Yard/Cockpit Arts is the fourth turning on the left. (Takes approx. 7 minutes) FROM RUSSELL SQUARE TUBE Head east on to Bernard St towards Marchmont St and then continue straight onto Brunswick Square. Turn right onto Landsdown Terrace, and then turn left onto Guilford Street. Finally turn right onto Doughty Mews and turn right again on to John’s Mews. Look out for a signs for Cockpit Yard/Cockpit Arts on the right. FROM KINGS CROSS STATION There are short cuts but the simplest route is to cross Euston Road and turn right into Gray’s Inn Road. It’s approximately 450 yards to Northington Street which is the 9th turning on the right. Cockpit Yard/Cockpit Arts is the fourth turning on the left. When you reach the building: The main entrance is in the East Wing. If you enter Cockpit Yard you will see a door on your left with the Cockpit Arts sign. We are on the first floor. Please note, if you are visiting a studio each designer-maker studio has a labelled buzzer by the entrance of the wing in which they are situated. The West Wing is to the right of Cockpit Yard. During Open Studios both the East Wing & West Wing entrances are open/sign posted. NEW! There is also a lift valet service and space to store up to ten buggies. .
