MURASSO’S MESSAGE BOARD Padre Pio always emphasized the importance of TWO FEAST DAYS CELEBRATED leading a holy life. He, also said that his real mission THIS WEEK would start after his death. This, we know to be true as many Catholics today continue to offer their prayers to PIO OF PIETRELCINA Saint Pio, seeking his healing intercession. His valuable and at times daunting words are among the many things that Padre Pio has left to us; words and thoughts that are irreplaceable for those who seek his blessings and who strive to live a spiritual life. Padre Pio is remembered in different ways: some say he was harsh, others say he was kind, still others speak of his compassion and others say he was staunch. Padre Pio was a strong -willed who did not tolerate sinful behaviors in one’s thoughts, words, or behaviors. Padre Pio is also known for the countless hours that he spent each day hearing confessions. It is said that he was quick to reprimand those who did not confess all their sins. “Jesus is with you even when you don’t feel his presence. He is never as close to you as he is during your spiritual battles. Saint along with Saint were the other two who received the stigmata. Padre Pio is remembered for his infallible devotion to Jesus and Mary, his constant recitation of the and the numerous that he performed throughout his lifetime as well as the miracles that continue to take place through his intercession. In 1947, Padre Pio told John Paul II that one day the young Polish priest would ascend to "the highest post in the Church."

“Apostle of Charity” & “Father of the Poor” Friday, September 27, the Church celebrates the feast of Saint Vincent de Paul. Vincent was born in 1588, in Pouy, France to a poor peasant family. At a young age, he had the desire to serve the Lord and to help the less fortunate. Perusing this call, Vincent studied theology in Paris and Rome and eventually was ordained to the priesthood, spending his entire priesthood helping the less fortunate, particularly orphaned children and poor families. Vincent de Paul was a devoted spiritual director with a FR. MURASSO MESSAGE BOARD passion for the evangelization of Catholics. He also spent many years reforming priesthood formation and the clergy who in his day were not living what he thought was the Gospel message of purity and charity. St. Pio of Pietrelcina Carnival, 2019 The Weekly Holy Hour resumed on Monday,

Another successful carnival!Once again, I wish to express September 9 , at Our Lady of Pompeii Chapel. Please my sincere gratitude to all the volunteers who continue to make remember in your prayers the following for which we our annual carnival the success story that it has become. Please are holding this weekly holy hour: an increase of know how appreciative I am at the hundreds of hours that go into vocations to the religious life and to the priesthood, the preparations of this annual event as well as the many long the success of the Archdiocesan Synod and for our hours that so many of YOU give to the parish in running this five -day event. Thank -you, fr. murasso , that the Holy Spirit may be a source of cleansing and healing. From the Desk of the Religious Education Director Carol Silva

Hello Parents:

As we look forward to the 2019 -2020 Religious Education year, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of you for your cooperation and support. Our families and parishioners made last, year a success story, as our religious education program was quite successful, thanks to the support of our parishioners, our parents, our students and our dedicated teachers. The students were as always, great to work with. The sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation were beautifully celebrated as one parish. Many of you expressed your appreciation for a very spiritually -uplifting experience. We thank -you for your positive comments.

Planning has begun for the 2019 -2020 year. This will be another exciting year for our Religious Education Program at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish. A new, multi -media, family inclusive curriculum will be implemented in the seventh and eighth grade classes. Ninth grade students will begin their first year of the Confirmation Preparation Program with a brand new curriculum. The Religious Education program will include:

Monthly Children’s Liturgies Family Events Student Service Projects Home Family Lessons for students who are preparing for the sacraments of: First Reconciliation First Communion Confirmation.

St. Pio’s Religious Education Program will again include family participation.. Your role as the primary educator of your child’s faith will continue to be a powerful witness as well as provide a solid spiritual foundation for child(ren) and for the entire family.

Weekly participation at Mass is an expected requirement of our Religious Education Program. In the midst of very busy schedules, we ask our families to commit to weekly worship. Attendance at weekly or by -weekly religious education classes in the absence of weekly worship means that your child is engaging in half of St. Pio’s Religious Education Program, as Sunday worship themes will be carried over each week into the classroom cur- riculum. Please make the time and the commitment to worship weekly as a family if you haven’t already done so.

Parent/student meetings will be scheduled in order to familiarize parents and students with the scope and expectations of the Religious Education program. We look forward to another exciting year, as we continue to reduce class -time for our students and subsequently, provide more multi -media, on -line and family - focused possibilities for mastery of the principles of our Catholic faith for each grade.

All religious education classes will be held at the St. Vincent de Paul Church Campus .

= Grades K -8, will meet in the school = Grades 9 and 10 will meet in the lower level of the parish office building

If you would like to register your child(ren) or need further information. Please contact me in the Religious Education Office at 203 -469 -0764 #4 or at [email protected]. I will be happy to assist you.

Thank you, in advance for your continued support. As a parent, you continue to accompany your child(ren) on his/her/their spiritual journey. As a parish, our future rests in the hope that families return to church, practice their faith on a weekly basis and assist their child(ren) in discovering the part that his/her/their faith plays in the larger faith community of St. Pio of Pietrelcina.
