Congratulations to Mrs Makepeace on being appointed Assistant Principal at Hanwood Public School, starting in Term 2. We are extremely unfortunate to farewell Mrs Makepeace and her expertise but wish her well in this new exciting role. A replacement for Mrs Makepeace is currently being arranged and more information will be provided soon. Helmets Students riding bikes or scooters to school are required by law to wear a helmet. Premier’s Reading Challenge The 2020 PRC begins on Monday 2nd March. All students are encouraged to participate in the PRC. The Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely. Our school library has a large range of PRC books available for students to borrow and read. Halogen Young Leaders Conference Today our Year 6 students, Rilee and Melissa are Year 3 – 6 News in Sydney with Miss McGreal at the Halogen Young Leaders conference. There are some excellent arguments and their persuasive language is strong.

We have also been looking at budgets and have been given the task of designing a nature park and choosing certain equipment that we would like to add. We have had to work out what the cost is and whether we have used our budget or whether we have money left over to spend. The nature parks are looking amazing and we are being very careful with our money, mostly we are under budget!
