    BMW Corporate Communications Media Information DTM 17th June 2017 Two podiums for BMW: Glock and Spengler finish second and third in Hungary thanks to a daring strategy. • Early pit stops bring Glock and Spengler podiums at the Hungaroring. • Spengler celebrates his first podium since Moscow 2016. • Wittmann also finished in the points in ninth place. Hungaroring. Timo Glock (GER) and Bruno Spengler (CAN) finished second and third in Saturday’s turbulent race at the Hungaroring (HUN) after a strong catch-up race, which saw them claim the third and fourth podiums of the season for BMW Motorsport. Both drivers benefitted from a daring strategy with early pit stops, which paid off after a safety car phase. Marco Wittmann (GER) in ninth also finished in the points. A collision forced Maxime Martin (BEL) and Tom Blomqvist (GBR) to retire. Augusto Farfus (BRA) was in fifth place when he was hit by a rival and the resulting spin saw him drop right down the field. Qualifying: Augusto Farfus in the Shell BMW M4 DTM achieved his best qualifying result of the season and started the race as the best-placed BMW driver in sixth on the grid. His personal fastest lap time was 1:32.275 minutes. Tom Blomqvist in the BMW Driving Experience M4 DTM in tenth place also made it into the top ten. Maxime Martin (SAMSUNG BMW M4 DTM), Timo Glock (DEUTSCHE POST BMW M4 DTM), Marco Wittmann (Red Bull BMW M4 DTM) and Bruno Spengler (BMW Bank M4 DTM) followed in positions 12, 14, 15 and 17. The race: Augusto Farfus got off to a good start from sixth on the grid and moved up a place.

For Audi Sport, the weekend at the Hungaroring near Budapest is extremely important: the title race in the DTM continues to intensify before the season’s last four races. Audi Sport started the 2016 season with the aim of clinching the title in all three championships. Four races before the end, its title chances in all three classifications remain intact at the Hungarian round. Audi driver Edoardo Mortara in second place of the drivers’ standings, with a deficit of 33 points and 100 yet to be awarded, is the fiercest rival chasing leader of the standings Marco Wittmann (BMW). In the manufacturers’ classification, Audi ranks in second place, 35 points ahead of Mercedes-Benz and trailing BMW by 57. In the teams’ classification, Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline (Edoardo Mortara/Mattias Ekström) has a deficit of only nine points separating it from BMW Team RMG (Marco Wittmann/Timo Glock). “It’s clear that on the Budapest weekend we need to achieve more points than our competitors in order to put ourselves in a good position for the final attack at Hockenheim,” says Dieter Gass, Head of DTM at Audi Sport. “That’s why we had to do some homework before Budapest.

Zolder. Triumph as the DTM returns to Zolder (BEL): in the third race of the DTM season, Philipp Eng (AUT) has celebrated the first DTM win of his career in the ZF BMW M4 DTM. Joel Eriksson (SWE) completed the one- two result for BMW Team RBM in the CATL BMW M4 DTM. This was the very first home race in Belgium for the team headed by Bart Mampaey. 35 years after Harald Grohs (GER) claimed victory at the very first DTM race, a BMW driver has topped the podium once again at Zolder. Eng and Eriksson were joined in the points by Marco Wittmann (GER), who had started the race from pole position in the BMW M4 DTM and crossed the line in seventh place. He now has 43 points, and remains just ahead of Eng (40 points) at the top of the standings. Bruno Spengler (CAN) finished tenth in the BMW Bank M4 DTM. He had started well from third place to move into the lead, where he remained until the decisive yellow flag period.
