Skelton, Bishop of the diocese of New West- minster was elected Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of BC and Yukon on the first ballot at 9:40am on Saturday, May 12, 2018. That office comes with the honorific, “Archbishop.” Archbishop Skelton is the first woman to be elected an Archbishop in the Anglican Church of Canada and the second woman in the Anglican Communion with the title Archbishop. The Most Rev. Archbishop Goldsworthy was installed February 10, 2018. The Most Rev. Katherine Jefferts Schori was elected June 18, 2006 to a ten-year term as Presiding Bishop (Pri- mate) of the Episcopal Church but that office does not come with the title, Archbishop. The Ecclesiastical Province of BC and Yukon is one of four Provinces that comprise the Anglican Church of Canada and is made up of six dioceses: • Yukon • Caledonia (northern British Columbia) • Territory of the People (central British Columbia, formerly the Anglican Parishes of the Central Interior and prior to that, diocese of Cariboo) • Kootenay (the eastern part of British Columbia including the Okanagan) • British Columbia (Vancouver Island and the coastal islands) • New Westminster (the urban and suburban communities of Greater Vancouver and the Fraser Valley including the Sunshine Coast, from Powell River to Hope). -

Calendar of Intercessions
CALENDAR OF INTERCESSIONS THE TERRITORY OF THE PEOPLE Includes The Anglican Cycle of Prayer (ACP) The Anglican Church of Canada (ACC) Companion Diocese of Montreal (MTL) The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada (ELCIC) April - June 2021 MISSION STATEMENT “We walk together with all God’s people, journeying into a new creation, and trusting with faith and courage in the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We love as Jesus loves, living with integrity and openness, and are committed stewards of God’s world.” [Approved May, 2011] FROM THE CONSTITUTIVE ASSEMBLY OF THE ANGLICAN PARISHES OF THE CENTRAL INTERIOR (June 2002) These three affirmations have guided us as we became the Anglican Parishes of the Central Interior: • We affirm that the Anglican Parishes of the Central Interior needs to gather together as a family of God. • We affirm that this time of transition has been given to us as a gift to explore possible new directions towards which the Spirit might be calling us. • We affirm that God is calling us to share in Jesus’ ministry of healing and reconciliation. These affirmations form a kind of mission statement, but are not exhaustive. They help us to honour the ongoing task of discerning our ministry and mission together. We acknowledge our desire to walk faithfully on a path in which we carry the best of who we were into a living and holy present and towards an unknown and hopeful future. As you pray for persons, parishes and ministries, keep at the heart of your prayer an openness to listen to the direction God calls us to travel together. -
Dean Peter Elliott Announces Retirement Date ANNE FLETCHER Special to Topic, Christ Church Cathedral
A section of the Anglican Journal NOVEMBER 2018 IN THIS ISSUE Migrant Lawn Bowling PAGE 2 Episcopal Visit Buen Camino to St. Mary’s, South Hill PAGE 13 PAGES 18 – 19 Dean Peter Elliott Announces Retirement Date ANNE FLETCHER Special to Topic, Christ Church Cathedral On September 9, the Very Rev. Peter Elliott announced his retirement date at 8am prior to celebrating Holy Communion (left photo) and to a group gathered for an info session in the parish hall of Christ Church Cathedral (right photo). PHOTOS Randy Murray Christ Church Cathedral’s rector, Dean Peter Elliott, now 24 years on the job, has told parishioners he will retire early next fall, shortly after he attends his ninth General Synod, here in Vancouver in July. And the chair of the Cathedral’s succession and transition committee says that, in the fastest-case scenario, the next rector could be coming in to work even before the old one is out the door on September 30, 2019. Cathedral trustee, Ted Chiasson, said in an interview the results of a congregational survey last spring will be discussed in workshops at the Cathedral. A report will then go to Archbishop Melissa Skelton, who is expected to make a decision whether to appoint an interim rector or go straight to hiring a new rector. Cathedral representatives have made it clear to Archbishop Skelton that, given the size and scope of the parish, they don’t want an interim, Mr. Chiasson said. “It’s a complex place… we don’t want it to languish.” A parish profile, completed two years ago for the hiring of a vicar, would only need some tweaking to be ready to go, he said, and Dean Elliott is open to overlapping with his successor. -

Annual Report 2019
2019 Annual Report From the Executive Director 2019 was a year of singularly profi ling the generous support that the Anglican Foundation makes possible in faith communities throughout Canada. Our goal was to disburse $1 million for ministry in 2019, and we succeeded, thanks to so many of you who have trusted us over the years and provided fi nancial support. You have helped enliven the innovative and creative spirit amongst Anglicans from coast to coast to coast. As the Visionary Sponsor of the July 2019 General Synod held in Vancouver, BC, AFC was delighted to be present with ecumenical guests, delegates, bishops, and others for seven days, during which time we had the opportunity to meet many supporters and colleagues. It was a Synod at which we also said farewell to our beloved Primate and AFC Chair, the Most Rev. Fred Hiltz, and welcomed our new Primate and AFC Chair, the Most Rev. Linda Nicholls. It is my hope that as you read this Annual Report, you will be inspired by the imagination, determination, and resolve that Canadian Anglicans demonstrate in their desire to build up faith communities to create a strong Anglican Church for years to come. As a non-profi t organization, we depend on the many individuals, parishes, and dioceses that support the mission of generosity that AFC has demonstrated for over sixty years. We are always striving to increase the breadth of our donor base in order to ensure that we can carry out our work well into the future. I hope that you will continue to partner with us to make a real difference in people’s lives, build up the church, and strengthen our country. -

The Territory of the People Territory Bulletin
The Territory of the People Anglican Church Territory Bulletin 9 July 2019 Episcopal Election Bishop Barbara has announced her retirement effective December 31, 2019. Coordinating Council has met, an Electoral Committee has been formed, and an Electoral Assembly has been scheduled. The election of the first Bishop for the Territory of the People will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at St. Alban’s, Ashcroft. In accordance with Territory Policy 1.11: Nominating and Electoral Procedure for the Election of a Bishop for the Territory of the People Anglican Church the Electoral Committee issues this call for nominations. Call for Nominations Our policy specifies the following: Nominations for the Office of Bishop must be supported by at least two members who are: o a Territory Assembly Delegate; o a member of a Parish Council within the Territory of the People; o any member of a parish may propose a name for nomination through either their Territory Assembly Delegate or Parish Council Member. A nomination must have the consent of the nominee. The two nominators as named above do not need to be members of the same body. Nominators may only nominate one candidate. The Holy Spirit does surprising things and we do not know where our next Bishop is going to come from. It is important for all members of our church family to consider prayerfully whether they know of someone who may be called to be our next Bishop. The Nomination form is available on the Territory website. NOMINATION FORMS MUST BE RECEIVED BY EMAIL ([email protected]) BY THE ELECTORAL COMMITTEE ON OR BEFORE MIDNIGHT PDT ON JULY 29, 2019. -
Cycle of Prayer
Cycle of Prayer 13 January - 11 May 2019 Diocese of Chester Receive the daily Cycle of Prayer on: www.facebook.com/dioceseofchester Key: C = Clergy LM = Licensed Lay Minister (Reader) (Pastoral Worker) (Youth Worker) Diocesan entries from the Anglican Cycle of Prayer are in italics. Chester Diocesan Board of Finance. Church House, 5500 Daresbury Park, Daresbury, Warrington WA4 4GE. Tel: 01928 718834 Chester Diocesan Board of Finance is a company limited by guarantee registered in England (no. 7826) Registered charity (no. 248968) Foreword This Cycle of Prayer is a reminder to pray. The best reminders have a regular rhythm about them. The reminders of the importance of family life naturally take the form of anniversary events and celebrations. The Christian Year was established for just this purpose, building upon the annual rhythm of ritual and celebration which was well developed in Jewish life. Christmas, Easter, and all the other features and festivals of the Christian Year, are there to remind us of key features of the Gospel story, and the life of the Church. The diocesan daily Cycle of Prayer is provided as a reminder to pray – and a reminder of the central importance of prayer to the Church, and the Christian life. +Peter Face painting in Edgeley Welcome ‘It seems to me their faith is too much about religion and not enough about Christianity.’ The speaker was describing a couple much involved in the life of their local church who had left a lonely aged parent needing assistance to his own devices. The criticism caused me to ponder on my perhaps too easy promise to pray for people. -

Anglican Church of Canada Episcopal Statement June 8, 2020 The Anglican Church of Canada has committed itself to confronting racism in its own life and to acknowledging the place of racism and colonialism in our own nation. That commitment needs to be renewed daily. We have been horrified by the public murder of George Floyd. We are deeply distressed and profoundly disturbed by the images, rhetoric, violence, division, and chaos that has followed. We offer our prayerful support and solidarity with our sister church, the Episcopal Church, as it prays and guides its people while it simultaneously repents of, and protests the sin of racism. Our own house is not in order. Systemic racism exists in every part of Canada. The words of the Anglican Church of Canada’s 2004 Charter for Justice remind us: “The assumption of racial difference and inequality was the basis of much of Canada’s social legislation. For example, as a result of the Indian Act, First Nations people were confined to their reserves and their lands, and made susceptible to exploitation and take over. Immigration policies restricted Black, Asian and Jewish immigrants. Canadians of Japanese and Ukrainian descent were rounded up and interned during World War Two. Labour legislation dictated who could and couldn’t work for whom, and who could do what kind of work.”1 We repent of our complicity in the continuing structures of racism and oppression in our church and in our culture, for racism is not of Christ. It is sin. Every human being reflects the dignity of the very image of God.
