McQuillan provided a presentation regarding the 18 month programme which will Support focus on people having the opportunity to have an ‘Effective Conversation’ with a trained volunteer or professional to find out if they need a health and social care service. The effective conversation will focus on what matters to the person, rather than what is the matter with the person. It will also involve what the person might do to help themselves, what other activities and services are available locally that might help and what information and advice the person needs. The presentation include the following: What are we trying to achieve? What’s it all about? What’s it NOT about? 2 To do this, we need some new front doors And people behind them who have different conversations Ayr Engagement Event – 29 Sep 16 Ayr Engagement Event – Feedback Next Steps... Brian McQuillan asked members to identify, ‘Front Doors, places that people might be able to have an effective conversation, in their local area and email him. Brian McQuillan informed members that training had been oragnised to help people B. Reid informed members that the use of technology is helping to keep people informed, self-manage conditions and make sure with the people on waiting lists with the greatest needs where being prioritised and supported. McQuillan informed members that the steering group had met to discuss working in partnership with South Ayrshire Council who are providing around £500,000 to localities to be distributed through participatory budgeting in the financial year 2017/18. McQuillan commented that members of the locality planning group on the steering group for the event had agreed to work in partnership with South Ayrshire Council to plan and organise at least two events. The first event would take place on Saturday 20 May 17 at Ayr Town Hall would use only South Ayrshire Council and Scottish Government funding of £35,000. Small grants of up to £1,000 would be available and applications for larger grants of up to £10,000 would be considered by a vetting group for the event. 4 B.
