They have produced a game series called “Battlefield”, which recently celebrated its tenth anniversary, releasing it gradually over the years. In order to create a game some form of work structure is required. In this essay we discover what the Dice work process looks like today and how it has changed over the years. Game development is progressing and market changes require game developers to constantly adapt to the current situation. To investigate this issue, we conducted intensive interviews with two well- established game developers from the Dice enterprise, as well as done further investigation and a small interview to confirm the results. We have individually drawn conclusions and created theories based on previous research and self-reflection. To give this question a background the essay describes how the computer game process works and it also describes the working roles for the peoples in the process. Further the thesis describes the changes for the computer game graphic artist and the reasons for this change. When it comes to Digital Illusions the thesis focus on the game Battlefield 1942. The work began with telephone interviews with game artists at the largest game company’s in Sweden, witch gave us indications of the fact that the status and the influence of the production of the game for the game artists had been ascending during the last six years. We therefore wanted to find out the reasons for this change, as well as finding one single game to study. We therefore interviewed three of the responsible computer game artists for the game Battlefield 1942. We also went to the computer game education Playground Squad in Falun for two days of interviews and observations. We concluded that the computer game graphic artists had increased during the last six years primarily caused by the fact that computer game graphics more and more had been used as means of marketing and the fact that the knowledge and the making use of editors among the artists has increased.

Sweden became my home and I have stayed here ever since. The reason I wanted to come to DICE is the same reason that I’ve stayed. The people. To the outside world I guess our games are the most signifi cant thing. But to us here at the studio, it is who we are. What sets DICE apart from other studios is our culture. People come to DICE to change our industry and to make unique and innovative entertainment. To try the new, the weird, the different. Games take years to make and take a lot out of you. If you are lucky, you get to ship three or four games in your career. Life is too short to make bad games. The people at DICE always want to experiment. Like any other place that experiments, there are a lot of failures, but sometimes, there is something brilliant that does change games and that’s what we live for. B a t t l e fi e l d changed the way people played shooters online. We believe that Mirror’s Edge will change the way people think about Movement.

December 2006) was an international section of Polish steampunk website Retrostacja , combining three major projects: • Steampunk Chronology - a list of nearly 3,000 works set in the chronological order (online since August 2003), • Steampunk Links - a database of over 1,000 links in 12 categories (online since August 2005), • Steampunk TV - a collection of more than 200 music videos, short films, trailers and contemporary silent films (online since November 2006). Steampunk Chronology, the core element of Steampunkopedia, was probably the first attempt to reconstruct a history and an evolution of the genre. My goal was to assemble everything that came within contemporary definition of steampunk (or within many coexisting definitions - see p.72): from modern sf, fantasy & horror set in the 19th century and retrofuturistic alternate history, to mad crossovers, pastiches and mash-ups. Being a work in permanent progress, the list has quickly multipled its initial number of 500 titles, reaching a critical mass after 100 bi-weekly update reports in July 2007. At that time Dieselpunk came into prominence, which gave a chance to split the Chronology into two separate files (see p.57). After another 100 reports (weekly, due to the peaking popularity of the genre – see p.56) the project was cancelled and removed in May 2010.
