Silver spoon Boston Midnight Bayou Declan Fitzpatrick fell in instant love with a Louisiana Midnight Bayou 'haunted' estate when he drove by with college friends. Now he learns it's on sale and Midnight Bayou to the rather destitute owner, old Odette Simone. She lives in a cabin nearby and makes sure he gets to meet her orphaned granddaughter, headstrong restaurateur Lena. The youngsters sort of fall in love, but the estate's bloody slavery days past, including fratricide and infanticide, comes to Midnight Bayou heavily, even in ghostly fashions. Young college student from Boston, Jerry O'Connell out on some hijinks with friends in New Orleans comes across an old deserted mansion and sees the ghost of Midnight Bayou woman there. He feels a real connection to her and the house. Years later, now an attorney, O'Connell moves to the area to start a law practice aimed at making insurance companies cough up what they owe flood victims. But it's more than business that Jerry's got on his mind. He buys the old mansion and has plans to renovate and move Midnight Bayou. But he sees some startling visions of the past around the turn of the last century. He makes a connection with Lauren Stamile who also has a connection to the house. She's the great great granddaughter of the woman that Jerry finds out was murdered. Midnight Bayou is based on a Nora Roberts romance novel of the same name, though its Midnight Bayou could have been taken from the works of Tennessee Williams. Faye Dunaway plays the grandmother of Stamile who raised Midnight Bayou and she's fine in the part. She is a bad person in the past and present. The film revolves around Harvard -educated lawyer Declan Fitzpatrick O'Connellwho impulsively gives up his settled life to buy Manet Hall, a Midnight Bayou restored plantation manor near New Orleanswhich he has always been drawn to. Local legends claim that the house is haunted, and shortly after Declan moves in, he begins hearing voices and seeing things. Declan is also distracted Midnight Bayou an undeniable attraction to Cajun local, Lena Simone. Lena was raised on the bayou by her grandmother Odette Dunawayand has her own deep connection with the manor. While living in the house, Declan begins to have visions from a century past and details of events that took place in the mansion. With the help of Odette, Declan and Midnight Bayou realize that they are inextricably linked with Manet Hall, and uncover a shocking secret that has been hidden there for more than years.
