Sharadindu Bandiopadhiai (March 30, 1899-September 22, 1970) was an Indian Bengali writer. He was also active in Bengali cinema as well as Bollywood. His most famous creation is the fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi. He was born in Tarabhushan and Bijaliprabha Bandiopadhaya at his maternal grandparents' home in Jawnpur, United Province, India. The Bandopadhiai family's residence was in Purnia, Bihar, India, where his father, Tarabhushan, was in the workplace, but the family hails from Barangaroo, North Kolkata, West Bengal, India. In 1915, he passed a matrix exam and accepted admission to Vidyasagara College in Kolkata. While studying there, he published his first work, Jaubansmriti, a collection of poems, at the age of 20. In 1919 he passed the V.A. exam He studied law in Patna, and then devoted his time to writing. Characters Byomkesh Bakshi Byomkesh Bakshi is a detective. He calls himself Satyanweshi or a seeker of truth. Main article: Byomkesh Bakshi Beard Beard is a ghost-hunter and in the words of writer Bhootanweshi. Satindra Bhattacharya replaced Uttam Kumar with Bakshi, while Shailene Mukherjee responded to Ajit's role. Dadar Kirti (দাদার কীিত ) (1980) - Directed by Tarun Majumdar. This full length feature is based on the novel of the same name. Megmukti (মঘমুি) (1981) - Directed by Tarun Majumdar. This full feature is based on Cortar Kirti. Magno Mainak (ম মনাক) (2009) - director Swapan Ghosal, who also directed two Bengali series about a detective. The film features several TV actors. TV actor Shuvrajit Dutta plays Bakshi. Byomkesh Bakshi (বামেকশ বী) (2010) - Directed by Anjan Dutt. This film is based on the story of Adim Ripu (আিদম িরপু). Abir Chatterjee plays Byomkesh Bakshi while Suswata Chatterjee plays Ajit. The swastika Mukherjee plays Shiuli, a bar dancer, while Chandan Sen plays an arms dealer in Batula. Dutta plans to make a trilogy. Abar Bykkesh (আবার বামেকশ) (2012) - Director Anjan Dutt. This film is based on the history of Chitrachor (িচেচার). This series is expected to be followed by Cohen Coby Kalidas. Jekhane Bhooter Bhoy (যখােন ভু েতর ভয়) (2012), a film directed by Sandeep Ray, is based on three separate stories, the latter of which is Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay 'Bhoot Bhabishyat' (ভু ত-ভিবষ), starring Saswata Chatterjee and Paran Banerjee in the lead roles. Satyanweshi (সতােষী) (2013), the last film directed by Rituparno Gosh and released in 2013, is based on the novella Khobali (চারাবািল, Fast Sand).
