SURESHAN & Hadi OSTOVAN Abstract Parasitic wasps of the family Pteromalidae (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea) are one of the numerous and economically important groups of parasitoids. The species diversity of these beneficial insects in Iran is summarized in this paper. In total, 227 species from 114 genera and 16 subfamilies, Asaphinae (2 genera, 3 species), Cerocephalinae (2 genera, 4 species), Cleonyminae (7 genera, 8 species), Colotrechninae (1 genus, 1 species), Cratominae (1 genus, 1 species), Diparinae (1 genus, 1 species), Eunotinae (5 genera, 8 species), Macromesinae (1 genus, 1 species), Miscogasterinae (5 genera, 14 species), Ormocerinae (2 genera, 6 species), Panstenoninae (1 genus, 1 species), Pireninae (2 genus, 2 species), Pteromalinae (79 genera, 165 species), Spalangiinae (1 genus, 8 species), Sycophaginae (2 genera, 2 species), and Sycoryctinae (2 genera, 2 species) are listed in the fauna of Iran. STRIVE Report Series No. 3 Science, Technology, Research and Innovation for the Environment (STRIVE) 2007-2013 The Science, Technology, Research and Innovation for the Environment (STRIVE) programme covers the period 2007 to 2013. The Value of Parasitic The programme comprises three key measures: Sustainable Development, Cleaner Production and Hymenoptera as Indicators Environmental Technologies, and A Healthy Environment; together with two supporting measures: EPA Environmental Research Centre (ERC) and Capacity & Capability Building. The seven principal of Biological Diversity thematic areas for the programme are Climate Change; Waste, Resource Management and Chemicals; Water Quality and the Aquatic Environment; Air Quality, Atmospheric Deposition and Noise; Impacts on Biodiversity; Soils and Land-use; and Socio-economic Considerations. In addition, other emerging issues will be addressed as the need arises. The funding for the programme (approximately €100 million) comes from the Environmental Research Sub-Programme of the National Development Plan (NDP), the Inter-Departmental Committee for the Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation (IDC-SSTI); and EPA core funding and co-funding by STRIVE economic sectors. New records of Pteromalidae (Hymenoptera, Chalcidoidea) from Norway. Norwegian Journal of Entomology 64, 1–4. The following five species of the family Pteromalidae are reported for the first time from Norway: Gastrancistrus autumnalis (Walker, 1834), Gastrancistrus picipes (Nees, 1834), Glyphognathus laevis (Delucchi, 1953), Tricyclomischus celticus Graham, 1956 and Apelioma pteromalinum (Thomson, 1878). This brings the total number of Norwegian pteromalids up to 276. Comments on biology and distribution for each species are given. The aim of this report is to highlight the occurrence of the family in Norway and to contribute to a complete check-list of the Norwegian species. E-mail: [email protected] Abstract Sirovena Bouček (Chalcidoidea: Pteromalidae, Pireninae) was known only from females of its type species, S. stigma Bouček, 1988. Males and host associations were both unknown. Both sexes of a second species of Sirovena, S. costallifera sp. nov., reared from Ficus microcarpa L. (Moraceae) in Yunnan, China, are described based on morphological characters and mitochondrial COI sequences. The males of S. costallifera show sexual dimorphism in body coloration, structure of the antennae and notauli, and body sculpture. Reliable host records of Pireninae are Cecidomyiidae (Diptera). Because midges also parasitize some figs, we speculate that S. costallifera is a parasitoid of some cecidomyiid midge that attacks fig syconia. A key to differentiate the two species is provided. Key words: taxonomy, molecular identification, sexual dimorphism Introduction Fig wasps that live within syconia of fig trees include pollinator species (Chalcidoidea: Agaonidae) and non- pollinating species of other chalcidoid families. -

The name of this group can be traced back to the mid-nineteenth century when Haliday first proposed “tribus Pireniani” in 1844. Förster (1856) upgraded Pireniani to the family Pyrenoidae. Its generic composition underwent many changes. Graham (1969) classified it as a tribe Pirenini of the Miscogasterinae. More recently, the group was redefined and treated as an independent subfamily Pireninae by Bouček (1988). -

From Turkey 5 species of Macroglenes, one of them as new species, Macroglenes fidanlinensis nov.sp., was described, 4 species, M. gramineus (HALIDAY,1833), M. microcerus HALIDAY, 1844, M. chalybeus, (HALIDAY,1833), M. varicornis HALIDAY,1833, the first three species as new record for Turkey, were recorded from several parts of Turkey. Zusammenfassung Vorliegende Studie behandelt das Vorkommen der Gattung Macroglenes WESTWOOD, 1832 (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae, Pireninae) in der Türkei. Von den fünf nachge- wiesenen Arten ist eine neu für die Wissenschaft, drei Arten Erstnachweise für die Türkei. Ein Bestimmungsschlüssel ermöglicht die Trennung der Arten. Introduction The genus Macroglenes was described by WESTWOOD (1832) having type species M. oculatus, WESTWOOD by monotypy. MITROIU (2010) and NOYES (2016) recorded Macroglenes as valid genus in the subfamily Pireninae (Pteromalidae), and recorded 21 species, from Palearctic region. The first revision and an identification key of the world species of Macroglenes was provided by GRAHAM (1969). Up to now only one species, Macroglenes varicornis HALIDAY was recorded from Turkey (DOĞANLAR 1985, ÖNCÜER 1991). -
