Hockly at the time was building cars for Vauxhall Motorsport. One of these cars was driven by Hockly who went on to take three consecutive British Open Championship category victories. Through the growth and the continued development Harry Hockl y Motorsport Ltd spread overseas into Europe, developing and running customer cars. Harry Hockly Motorsport Ltd has worked with a number of manufactures within the Motorsport Industry. Nissan Motorsport worked with HHMS from the very early days, running Nissan Sunny’s and the relationship was recently renewed with the build of five Nissan Patrol’s for the Paris Daker Rally 2004. Daihatsu UK worked with HHMS to run a successful one make challenge, with 20 identical cars, which ran for three years. During this period HHMS were approached by Proton Motorsport UK to develop a Super 1600 Satria rally car, which culminated in winning the Super 1600 British Championship title in 2000. HHMS still work with the Satria and have developed a 1400 specification. Over the years HHMS has established a good working relationship with some of the leading World Rally Championship Teams, carrying out different aspects of work. Recently HHMS have been involved with Prodrive and the build of ten recce cars and the redesig n of a recce service truck. HHMS have also worked with Mitsubishi to complete the build of six recce cars and two Pajareo’s for the Safari Rally. The roll cage is designed to MSA regulations. All CDS tube is genuine and mill certification can be provided. Alloy sump guard kit A high quality Aluminum plate which is part of the under floor protection, protecting the sump and engine against tough landings off jumps and terrain such as harsh gravel. Kevlar tank guard A hard wearing material to protect the fuel tank, a lighter protection to Aluminum. Kevlar floor protection Kevlar floor protection which protects against the wear and tear of stage rallies, floor protection will also double up as fuel and brake pipe protection. Spare wheel strap A extra strap attached to the inside of the boot to secure the spare wheel. Warning triangle Warning triangle to warn fellow competitors of an obstruction ie car broken down on stage. First aid kit A kit to provide basic first aid to the crew of the rally car. Mud flaps A set of four mud flaps are fitted to reduce stone damage. Hockly motorsport are quite confident that the Suzuki Alto is a car that could challenge other competitors within the BTRDA Rally First. With the car built with beginners and novices in mind, the car is low budget but with high quality and safety at the top of the priority list. Even though we have based this brochure towards BTRDA Rally First, the specification will meet the criteria of F1000, another highly competitive championship for smaller capacity rally cars. It will be run in accordance with the General Regulations of the Motor Sports Association (MSA) and these regulations. It is open to competitors holding a minimum of a National B Competition Licence. Championship Events BTRDA Rally First will run on seven of the one day forest events that form a part of the Silverstone Tyres BTRDA Rally Series, with the best 5 scores to count . Hockly Motorsport Ltd PAGE 10 Tel:- 01686 628594 Fax:- 01686 629238 Web:- www.hh-ms.com Email:- [email protected] BTRDA Rally First—Technical Regulations Introduction BTRDA Rally first is open to any 2 wheel drive Production Car with a normally aspirated petrol engine, or diesel engine (which may be turbo charged), up to a maximum engine capacity of 1400cc. (Cars that were originally 4 wheel drive are only permitted if they are permanently modified to 2 wheel drive). Within BTRDA Rally First there will be two classes:- Class RF1.4—for cars with an engine capacity up to and including 1400cc. Class RF1.0—for cars with an engine capacity up to and including 1000cc. Cars that comply with the current F1000 Technical Regulations will be eligible for Class RF1.0 subject to the completion of a BTRDA Rally First vehicle declaration form. All vehicles must comply with the MSA Regulations (C(b)) vehicles, (C(c)) safety and (H) special stage rallying. Documentation In addition to the MSA competition car log book (CCLB) a BTRDA Rally First vehicle declaration form (VDF) must be completed listing the make/model/age/specification/modifications of the car. This must e submitted to the Rally First coordinator or championship scruitineer before any points can be scored. Any subsequent changes to the vehicle must be recorded and the form re-submitted. BTRDA reserves the right to refuse any vehicle if it is considered unsuitable. Vehicle Requirements 1. General 1.1 Except where specifically permitted in these regulations, the vehicle must be unmodified with standard (or standard pattern) equipment for the model and age of the car declared on the Rally First vehicle declaration form. 1.2 Where these regulations specify the use of standard or original equipment parts, a competitor may use a standard pattern part. Standard pattern part are as defined in the MSA yearbook—terminology. 1.3 Parts may be repaired, but only using the procedures and processes specified in the vehicle manufacturers workshop manual. 2. Body shell 2.1 The body shell (including doors, bonnet, boot and tailgate) must retain the original manufacturer’s material, minimum thickness, shape and outline. 2.2 The body shell of the car may be strengthened including suspension mounting and roll cage areas. Plating, (which must follow the original body shape and be in contact with the standard part), stitch and seam welding, gussets, ‘bolt on’ and ’weld on’ braces are all permitted. 2.3 Strengthening rear suspension mounting points and turrets by the positioning of the roll-over safety bar backstays is permitted. However safety cages that reinforce the front suspension mounting points are not permitted. 2.4 The inner lips of wheel arches may be folded in to keep them away from the tyres. 2.5 The fitting of any under body guards and protection is permitted. 2.6 The route of brake and fuel pipes may be altered subject to compliance with the MSA yearbook regulations.
