The "apps" allow you to call Windows® 7 operating system functions, start programs, or ex- ecute functions to configure the UHX71B (power) controller. We recommend reading this description first to learn about the use and functions of the program. The description is made up of 2 chapters: • Introduction: This chapter contains basic information about use and functions of the software. • Operation: This chapter contains detailed instructions for using the apps (applica- tions). 4 Online Help – MOVI-PLC® power apps Introduction Which functions does the software offer? 2 2 Introduction 2.1 Which functions does the software offer? The "MOVI-PLC® power apps" software offers the following functions: • Unit detection Prerequisite: The localization function has been activated for the respective unit in the "Address Editor" tool. • Calling the "MOVITOOLS® MotionStudio" engineering software • Configuring the write protection for the data memory • Calling the Windows® user administration • Data backup of the Windows® image • Shutting down the operating system • Setting IP addresses for LAN and VNET • Setting the date and time • Help functions 2.2 Which groups are the functions assigned to? Each function is assigned to a group: Group Functions Programs Embedding and calling programs (e.g. MOVITOOLS® MotionStudio) Data management • Configuring write protection • Opening the user administration • Data backup (in preparation) Operating system functions • Shutdown • LAN and VNET settings • Setting the date and the time • Opening the online help User-defined functions Embedding and calling user-defined functions Online Help – MOVI-PLC® power apps 5 Operation 3 First steps 3 Operation 3.1 First steps 3.1.1 Initial screen When you are starting the software for the first time, the window for LAN and VNET set- tings opens. Next time, the software will start with the initial screen as described in the following chapter ("Program layout"). LAN and VNET Configure the LAN and VNET as follows: settings 1. Enter the values for LAN/VNET in the fields or click on [Set default values]. 7659201547 2. If you want to accept the values, click [Accept], otherwise, click [Previous]. In both cases, you will now see the initial screen as described in the following chapter ("Program layout"). The changed values are accepted without delay and the IP addresses are shown on the button. 6 Online Help – MOVI-PLC® power apps Operation First steps 3 3.1.2 Program layout After you have made the settings for LAN and VNET on the initial screen, the software shows the following screen: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] 7659205515 [1] Information about software version • Click on the icon to go to the window that shows information about the software version. Note: The window has a button that allows you to store system information in a log file. You can send the file to an SEW employee for service purposes. [2] Language setting • Click on the icon to select the required lan- guage for the user interface. [3] Button for starting functions • Click on the button to start functions from the following groups: – Programs – Data management – Operating system functions – User-defined functions [4] Configuring user-defined functions • Click on the icon to create user-defined func- tions For detailed information, refer to chapter "Configuring user-defined functions". [5] Options for the "shutdown" function • Click on the arrow to show the options: – Shutdown –Restart – Log off Online Help – MOVI-PLC® power apps 7 Operation 3 First steps 3.1.3 Starting and quitting the program manually "MOVI-PLC® power apps" is automatically started when the operating system is booting and shown in the task bar of the operating system with this icon: 7660497675 • Highlight the icon and open the context menu to [Show] or [Close] the software. When you have closed the software, you can call it again via the start menu: [Start menu] / [Programs] / [SEW] / [MOVIPLCpower apps] / [MOVIPLCpower apps.exe] 3.1.4 Unit detection indicator A unit detection indicator is integrated in the initial screen: 7659919115 • You can use the unit detection indicator to locate a unit in the network. If the unit is accessible, this is shown by an animation. The animation ends after about 10 seconds, unless another detection signal is sent by then. 8 Online Help – MOVI-PLC® power apps Operation "Program" group 3 Prerequisite: The localization function has been activated for the respective unit in the "Address Editor" tool. 3.2 "Program" group You can find other software from SEW-EURODRIVE in this group. Currently, it contains a button for starting the "MOVITOOLS® MotonStudio" engineering software. 1. Click on the [MOVITOOLS® MotionStudio] button. A window with the following start options opens: • Create new project: – Enter a project name and define a path for the new project. – Click the button A new project is created that already includes the "UHX71B power" unit. • Start MOVITOOLS® MotionStudio: Click this button to start MOVITOOLS® MotionStudio directly. MOVITOOLS® MotionStudio starts in the same language as "MOVI-PLC® power apps". • Note that MOVITOOLS® MotionStudio starts with an English user interface if the lan- guage set in "MOVI-PLC® power apps" is not available. Online Help – MOVI-PLC® power apps 9 Operation 3 "Data management" group 3.3 "Data management" group The "Data management" group contains the following functions: • Setting up write protection and reserved RAM • Opening the user administration The following chapters will give you detailed information about the functions. 3.3.1 Write protection and reserved RAM Write protection You have to shutdown Windows® before you switch off the supply voltage of the con- troller. Otherwise you may encounter data loss. With the "Create write protection" func- tion, you can switch off the supply voltage of the controller before you shutdown Windows® without losing any data. In addition, this function minimizes the write access to the CFast memory cards. As long as write protection is enabled, there is no write access to the blocked sections of the CFast memory card. To make sure that Windows® programs keep working flaw- lessly, the actual write accesses are routed to the volatile RAM. This means, for example, that a newly created text file is no longer available after a sys- tem reboot. The changes made to a file are lost as well after a system reboot. Note that Windows® does not generate a message when you try to write on a write protected me- dium. The "Create write protection" function allows you to except certain folders or files (e.g. log files) on the hard drive from the write protection. The "Create write protection" function can only be set via MOVI-PLC® power apps. It is not possible to make the settings via Windows®. Reserved RAM You can set the size of the reserved RAM according to your requirements. Each write access of a program is routed to this reserved section. The reserved memory should be large enough to cope with all memory accesses and small enough to make sure there is sufficient memory left for the correct execution of programs. The currently used memory of the reserved section is displayed to allow you to correctly determine the exact value. INFORMATION Do not use the activated "Write protection" function in combination with an activated Windows® swap file. 10 Online Help – MOVI-PLC® power apps Operation "Data management" group 3 3.3.2 Setting up write protection and reserved RAM Set up write protection as follows: 1.
