Our goal is to combine our elite baseball program with high quality academic guidance and tutoring. Academy students will utilize either a public, NCAA-approved online school, or a homeschool program. These options allow students to complete rigorous coursework while using their time efficiently, providing the flexiblity needed to also participate in high level baseball training and competition. Students will spend time in a classroom every day, working on course work in the presence of an academic tutor. We will support students and their families in academic pursuits by offering guidance on course selection, tutoring for areas where a student is struggling, and requiring accountability in all aspects of the student’s education. ACADEMIC OPTIONS Virtual Public School > For rising Seniors, you can likely work with your existing high school to complete your courses online. > For rising Juniors and below, NC Connections Academy is an online, NCAA-approved public school that is open to students across North Carolina. What steps do I need to take? 1. Meet with your current guidance counselor, and request a copy of your unofficial transcript, and a list of your remaining courses. If you are a rising Senior, also speak with your counselor about completing your remaining courses online. 2. For rising Juniors and below, apply to NC Connections Academy using the process found at this page: http://www.connectionsacademy.com/north-carolina-virtual-school/enrollment *Please go ahead and submit all of the required documentation listed on that page. **You will likely be placed on the waitlist at first, and will be notified when space opens. Homeschool If for any reason the Virtual Public School option does not work out for your student, the next best option is to enroll as a homeschooler. We understand that for many families, homeschooling is a foreign concept. There are plenty of resources available to make the process very manageable for the family, and beneficial for the student’s education. We are happy to discuss this option further, and help you enroll in courses. If you have any questions about the homeschooling process, please contact Robin Bailey at [email protected]. PRO5 Strength Program Strength Training We take a holistic approach to baseball development using explosive movements under varied loads that neurologically and physiologically emulate the demands of the game. Strength training lays the ground work for all athletic development. Movement Quality Our strength professionals have a high understanding of movement quality. An athlete’s movement inconsistencies are often overlooked in training. By focusing on movement limitations, we develop a more efficient movement pattern through a proper program and progression for each individual athlete. Data Tracking We track our athletes in many areas throughout the year. Our system collects data points on explosive jumps, core lifts, body weight, and agility numbers. This data ensures that our program is taking them in the proper direction for advanced development. PRO5 Recruiting Program High Success Rate Inside Recruit is one of the most respected baseball recruiting programs in the country. The percentage of our players that continue on to college baseball is very high due to our ability to evaluate accurately and our network of baseball connections. Personalized Guidance Each player has an Initial Meeting to discuss their personal recruiting process following the evaluation process. Inside Recruit explains to the player and family how the recruiting timeline works and where the player currently stands. The continued personal guidance as the player progresses is how Inside Recruit separates itself from other services. Comprehensive Program Inside Recruit provides players with their own personal Recruiting Profile. Our website allows for easy uploading of videos, evaluations, references, key measurements, statistics and much more. Recruiting regulations, advice, tips and news are updated throughout the year on the player’s Dashboard. We have streamlined the process for you so that you can focus on your game and your academics. Leadership Training OVERVIEW The focus of PRO5 Academy is to develop leaders on and off the field. There are three words that describe our approach: Integration, Intentional & Inspection: A focus on character and leadership will be Integrated into everything we do. Our staff and volunteers will be Intentional as we teach, train and equip the young men of PRO5 Academy to pursue excellence in every area of their lives. • How Agency Law Decides the True Owner of the 2004 Red Sox Final-Out Baseball
A FIELDER’S CHOICE: HOW AGENCY LAW DECIDES THE TRUE OWNER OF THE 2004 RED SOX FINAL-OUT BASEBALL * BRIAN E. TIERNEY “The Boston Red Sox, the symbol of heartbreak and human foible to sports fans for nearly a century, are world champions. No more curses. No more moral victories. No more ‘next year.’”1 I. INTRODUCTION The minute hand crept toward midnight on October 27, 2004. A collective silence lingered over New England, as though the entire region had been holding its breath for the last eighty-six years. The Boston Red Sox had already made baseball history in the American League Championship Series (ALCS) where they came back from a three game deficit to sweep the final four games against their arch rival – the New York Yankees.2 Now the Red Sox were only one out away from sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals and clinching the World Series Championship that had eluded them for so long. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, a runner on second and a 1-0 count, Red Sox closer Keith Foulke threw an 89 mph fastball letter high over the outside corner of home * Brian E. Tierney is a third-year law student at the University of Hawaii, William S. Richardson School of Law, and expects to earn his Juris Doctor in May 2006. 2012 -- H 8015 ======= LC02213 ======= STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2012 ____________ H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N COMMEMORATING THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF FENWAY PARK, HOME OF THE BOSTON RED SOX Introduced By: Representatives Kennedy, Fox, Mattiello, E Coderre, and Baldelli-Hunt Date Introduced: March 28, 2012 Referred To: House read and passed 1 WHEREAS, Historic Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox and beloved by Red 2 Sox fans and baseball lovers throughout the world for its quaint intimacy, its world famous Green 3 Monster, and for the seamless fit between its architecture and the surrounding urban landscape, is 4 celebrating its 100 th anniversary in 2012. This celebration will be observed by the Boston Red 5 Sox, their millions of fans, and by traditional baseball and architecture lovers across the country 6 and globe; and 7 WHEREAS, Fenway Park opened in 1912 and is the oldest Major League Baseball Park 8 still in use. Built for the then-princely sum of $650,000, its asymmetrical design stemmed from 9 the need to position the park against the contours of the bustling and dense “Fenway-Kenmore” 10 neighborhood of Boston. Its architecture resulted in a small capacity for a major league baseball 11 park and its many endearing features, such as the short Pesky Pole down the right field line and 12 the “Triangle” in deep Center Field. Fenway Park’s lack of much foul territory brings the 13 spectators very close to the action and helps give it its reputation as a “hitters park,” because most 14 foul balls hit by a batter land in the stands, out of the grasp of the fielders, thus affording hitters 15 extra swings at the plate; and 16 WHEREAS, Fenway Park’s most prominent, famous, and beloved feature is the Green 17 Monster in the left field.
