THE PROJECT DOESN’T FALL INSIDE THE PROTECTED AREA Granite Building Stone Quarry Unit of Mr. C. Firos Babu with Survey No. 201, 202, 203, 214, 215, 216/1 & 218 over an area of 4.3520 Hectare is located in Thiruvilwamala Village, Thalappilly Taluk, Thrissur District and Kerala State, the applicant Mr. C. Firos Babu is the Proprietor of the Quarry Unit. It has been proposed to excavate a maximum of 2, 43,300 Tonnes per annum of Granite Building Stone by open cast semi-mechanized method. The proposed mining area is 4.3520 Hectare; Total minable reserve available is 27, 35,763 Tonnes of Granite Building stone. The expected life of mine will be 12 years. The mineral will be transported through trucks/ tippers. The Chulannur Peafowl Sanctuary is situated between the North Latitudes 10° 42’ 33.1” and 10° 43’ 57.9”and between the East Longitudes 76° 27’ 21.6” and 76° 30’ 0.20” in Althur and Thalapilly Taluks of Palakkad and Thrissur Districts, respectively, in the State of Kerala and is spread over an area of 3.42 square kilometres. As per MoEF & CC Office Memorandum No J-11013/412006-IA.II(I) Dated: 02.12.2009 a specific condition stipulated that the environmental clearance is subject to obtaining prior clearance from forestry and wildlife angle including clearance from Standing Committee of the National Board for Wildlife as applicable (for projects involving forestland, wildlife habitat and or located within 10 km of the National Park/ Wildlife Sanctuary). Which was confirmed again in MoEF & CC Office Memorandum No. 1- 20/2014/WL(Pt) Dated: 01.05.2015 .
