And finally.... the Chairman’s Award. This year’s award winner comes from an inspirational patient story we heard at the DCHS Board back in July. Prem awarded it to a team of staff not just from DCHS but from a range of organisations in that came together to provide one young teenager, Imogen Ellis, from Woodhouse, the care she wanted at the end of her life. Patient safety

Ensuring our care is safe is paramount. This year our priority has been to achieve a reduction in the number of chronic leg ulcer patients. Our Time to Heal project trained 214 community nurses in specialist leg ulcer wound management. A review of more than 600 patients found 42% had healed completely. Of 258 patients with complex problems 17% healed and 68% had improved after 12 weeks. This project was overall winner in national Leading Healthcare Awards in March 2019.
