Transnordestina s.n., 44036-900, Feira de Santana, Bahia, Brazil 3Fazenda Rio do Negro, Entre Rios, Bahia, Brazil Abstract The monospecific genus Discyphus, previously considered a member of Spiranthinae (Orchidoideae: Cranichideae), displays both vegetative and floral morphological peculiarities that are out of place in that subtribe. These include a single, sessile, cordate leaf that clasps the base of the inflorescence and lies flat on the substrate, petals that are long-decurrent on the column, labellum margins free from sides of the column and a column provided with two separate, cup-shaped stigmatic areas. Because of its morphological uniqueness, the phylogenetic relationships of Discyphus have been considered obscure. Locally Threatened Plants in Manningham
Locally Threatened Plants in Manningham Report by Dr Graeme S. Lorimer, Biosphere Pty Ltd, to Manningham City Council Version 1.0, 28 June, 2010 Executive Summary A list has been compiled containing 584 plant species that have been credibly recorded as indigenous in Manningham. 93% of these species have been assessed by international standard methods to determine whether they are threatened with extinction in Manningham. The remaining 7% of species are too difficult to assess within the scope of this project. It was found that nineteen species can be confidently presumed to be extinct in Manningham. Two hundred and forty-six species, or 42% of all indigenous species currently growing in Manningham, fall into the ‘Critically Endangered’ level of risk of extinction in the municipality. This is an indication that if current trends continue, scores of plant species could die out in Manningham over the next decade or so – far more than have become extinct since first settlement. Another 21% of species fall into the next level down on the threat scale (‘Endangered’) and 17% fall into the third (‘Vulnerable’) level. The total number of threatened species (i.e. in any of the aforementioned three levels) is 466, representing 82% of all indigenous species that are not already extinct in Manningham. These figures indicate that conservation of indigenous flora in Manningham is at a critical stage. This also has grave implications for indigenous fauna. Nevertheless, corrective measures are possible and it is still realistic to aim to maintain the existence of every indigenous plant species presently in the municipality. The scope of this study has not allowed much detail to be provided about corrective measures except in the case of protecting threatened species under the Manningham Planning Scheme. -
Biodiversity Summary: Port Phillip and Westernport, Victoria
Biodiversity Summary for NRM Regions Species List What is the summary for and where does it come from? This list has been produced by the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities (SEWPC) for the Natural Resource Management Spatial Information System. The list was produced using the AustralianAustralian Natural Natural Heritage Heritage Assessment Assessment Tool Tool (ANHAT), which analyses data from a range of plant and animal surveys and collections from across Australia to automatically generate a report for each NRM region. Data sources (Appendix 2) include national and state herbaria, museums, state governments, CSIRO, Birds Australia and a range of surveys conducted by or for DEWHA. For each family of plant and animal covered by ANHAT (Appendix 1), this document gives the number of species in the country and how many of them are found in the region. It also identifies species listed as Vulnerable, Critically Endangered, Endangered or Conservation Dependent under the EPBC Act. A biodiversity summary for this region is also available. This includes all mammals, birds, reptiles, frogs and fish, 137 families of vascular plants (over 15,000 species) and a range of invertebrate groups. For example, Pterostylis atriola is a multi-flowered tall herb in a individuals in the subpopulation at Snug Plains group of orchids known as greenhoods. When triggered by touch, the labellum both the edge of old fire trails and throughout flips inwards towards the column, trapping any Eucalyptus obliqua dry sclerophyll forest that was insect inside the flower, thereby aiding burnt about 3 years previously. -

Hazel Easter Rich Orchid Field Guide
The Memorial Hazel Easter Rich Pictorial Guide to Orchids of the Round the Bend Conservation Co- Operative, Christmas Hills and Bend of Islands Region. Hazel and Fred Rich at Round the Bend Conservation Co-Operative. In Memory of Hazel Easter Rich (13th of April 1914 ~ 30th of September 2006) Orchid photographs and text by Dean Rouse. Introduction: Hazel Easter Rich had a great love for the Australian flora and fauna, in particular the Round the Bend Conservation Co-Operative and surrounding regions. She spent many weekends, often with her good friend Ruth Shoebridge, wandering these hillsides and grew to particularly love its diverse flora. A favourite among these were the orchids each species of which would appear for a fleeting few weeks a year. She came to know where each occurred and always looked forward to seeing them again when they made there short but spectacular reappearance. She passed on her knowledge of local orchid sites with all those who accompanied her on her numerous nature rambles. This regional orchid guide is dedicated to her memory and is based primarily on orchid lists for Round the Bend Conservation Co-Operative compiled by Hazel Easter Rich and Dean Rouse (grandson) and the list for One Tree Hill Reserve compiled by Cam Beardsell (Beardsell 2000). Both aforementioned sites are highly orchid rich each having an orchid flora in excess of fifty recorded species and the region as a whole having in excess of seventy species. The regional occurrence of orchid species outside of Round the Bend Conservation Co-Operative and One Tree Hill Reserve, in this guide, is only listed for those species with a highly restricted distribution within the Christmas Hills region. -

Strzelecki National Park Management Plan 2000 Parks and Wildlife Service Department of Primary Industries, Water and Environment Strzelecki National Park Management Plan 2000 STRZELECKI NATIONAL PARK MANAGEMENT PLAN 2000 This Management Plan for Strzelecki National Park has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of Part IV of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1970. In accordance with S.23(1) of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1970, the managing authority for the park, in this case the Director of National Parks and Wildlife, shall carry out his or her duties in relation to the park and the reserve for the purpose of giving effect to, and in accordance with the provisions of, this Management Plan. A draft of this plan was released for public comment in accordance with statutory requirements from 15 April until 9 June 2000. This plan is a modified version of that draft, having been varied to take account of public input during that period and the views of the National Parks and Wildlife Advisory Council. APPROVAL This management plan was approved by His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor-in- Council on 4 December 2000 and took effect on 27 December 2000, being seven days after publication of that approval in the Government Gazette.
