SHUTOUT NOTES: • Jaroslav Halak notched his second shutout of the season and 44th of his NHL career. • It was the 15th time in this lifetime series that the Bruins have shut out the Flyers and their eighth on home ice ... It was their first home shutout over Philadelphia since Tuukka Rask took a 3-0 decision on Mar. 9, 2013. WHO’S HOT: • Zdeno Chara had two goals tonight for his first points since opening the season with points in two of his first three games. • Jake DeBrusk had a goal tonight for his third goal in his last six games. • Danton Heinen had an assist tonight, giving him single assists each in three of his last four games. • David Krejci had an assist tonight, giving him 2-6=8 totals in six of his last seven games. • Steven Kampfer had an assist tonight for his first point of the season and his first point as a Bruin since an assist on Jan. 24, 2012 at Washington. • Jaroslav Halak had an assist tonight for his first point as a Bruin. The Boston Bruins’ Use of Social Media to Engage Fans in Promotions Abstract The topic of my research paper is the Boston Bruins’ use of social media to engage fans in promotions. More specifically, my research question is how do professional hockey teams use social media sites, such as Twitter, to increase fan engagement with team promotions? This research is important because we learned more about how social media sites are utilized in a positive way and were able to see what it takes to make these social media sites successful at the professional sport level. Some findings that have already been conducted on this topic include the different types of promotions and involvement, fan motivation on social media sites, social media in professional hockey specifically, and NHL teams using social media sites.
